Tip #3
Get the dog which suits your life style. If you have by this point reached 45 years old and never walked longer than 30 minutes a day. Now may not be the time to get that adorable Spitz breed (husky, malamute etc). Maybe you have the best intentions to start walking but get a dog which suits your current energy levels.

If you already have that dog try and do breed specific activities. Working gundog breed? Do some gundog training, Spitz breed? Dry land mushing, hounds? Scent work etc. the more they use their natural abilities often the less behaviour issues will occur

2 # Puppies don't often grow out of undesirable behaviours...they grow into them. Examples of these are barking for attention, jumping up, stealing, chewing, recall issues, pulling on the lead etc. we need to show them the correct way to behave. Make sure everyone in your home is on the same page! Make use of a trainer or behaviourist if struggling to solve the issues your self

Going to share a few training tips today
1 # be consistent
Training often goes wrong when we are not consistent. What is consistency?

Lead walking, every time the lead is attached it's a training session

Every time your dog is doing recall reinforce the return to you

Do not let 3 family members allow jumping up but 2 have a problem with it

Avoid letting your dog have free access if every time they do, they steal something you value and destroy it.

Training doesn't have to be hard, the best sessions are small 10 minutes bursts of consistency and not allowing dogs to practise undesirable behaviours
