I saw the eclipse!!!! 6+ hr traffic filled drive to VT was worth every minute to be in totality. Absolutely AMAZING!! My Lelan got this pic seconds before totality. Everything turned an amber color then a light starlight, Temps dropped from mid 60s to 30s and you could see stars in the sky! What an incredible experience, can't even put it into words how it felt. My family didn't take any pics while we were in totality bc we were all amazed watching it.

Happy New Year's Eve!!! I'm spending it snuggled on my blankie nook on the couch thanks to all of you who donated to help my mommy and daddy pay for my boo boo leg to get amputated. I'm doing soooo much better now! This wknd I put a diaper on for the 1st time since surgery and finally got a little bit of scooching time on the floor 🙌 I'm having to relearn how to balance & scooch w/o my leg and my diapers need a little more modification to keep them from sliding off but otherwise it was a success!! My family and I are so incredibly grateful to every one of you and hope you all have a happy and healthy new year!!! 🍾💜👩‍🦽🐾

Guess who got her stitches out yesterday 🙌 still coned and on lock down in the crib or supervised on the couch with someone but she's doing fantastic! The surgical site looks great and is really healing nicely. Her 2 favorite not so tiny humans have been taking such great care of her while they're on winter break from school. She's absolutely loving all the extra cuddle time and attention she's been getting. Although she is not a happy camper that she isn't getting 5 meals a day anymore now that she's done with all but 1 of her meds lol.

Yesterday late afternoon we had to pick up our son Lelan in Boston after his travel swim meet. Wylan stayed home to sit with Brexxi for the 7.5 hours we'd be gone. He is her favorite person in the world, and he absolutely loves her. She took full advantage of him, put on her saddest puppy dog eyes and cried/whined for 10 minutes until he caved. He busted her out of her confinment in the crib, took off her cone and cuddled with her on the couch all night. Needless to say, she has him wrapped around her 1 little crazy leg 💜💜 She is doing fantastic, her incision is healing up nicely and swelling seems to be mostly gone. We see the surgeon again next wk for her stitches come out. Keep everything crossed she stays on this good path 🤞🤞

After dinner begging for some banana with her meds hidden inside. She just gets a cone break for meals. The surgical site is looking good, swelling is starting to go down a little and the bruising isn't too bad. Thank you all for the continued love, prayers and donations!!!

Somebody is quite alert and very vocal about her displeasure of the cone & her 2+ week confinment period lol. The sedatives they sent home do not seem to have any effect on her 🤣. We don't mind though, we are just so happy she is home and healthy now 💜

She's super groggy and drugged but already settled into her crib with her favorite soft blanket. Thank you everyone for all your thoughts, prayers, well wishes, kind words and donations! You have all been a shining light in our lives during this super scary time. The tears are flowing right now. Tears of relief, tears of happiness, tears of gratefulness and tears of being emotionally spent after these last 48 hrs. I will post the pics showing her surgical site in the comments since they are a little graphic for some.

Hi all, this is a long mommy and daddy post to update you all as to what's been going on. We're sorry Brexxi's pg has been quiet. We've been trying to manage her going at her foot again for a while now. It was just a small raw spot that we'd get just about healed and she'd make it raw again. 2 wks ago she got it bad and made a hole in her heal again like she did a few yrs ago. We were managing it when it suddenly got badly infected Thanksgiving night into the next day. We rushed her to her vet, she was put on antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, given laser therapy and wound cleaned. Healing was slow at 1st but Wed into Thursday it was looking like we finally turned the corner. Each day her foot looked so much better than day before until yesterday into today it quickly spiraled into an awful direction. The infection exploded, she lost circulation in her foot and the bones felt crunchy. Under the direction of her vet, we brought her to the emergency hospital this morning and it was confirmed she needed her leg amputated today. She had the surgery late this afternoon and is currently recovering in icu. Surgery went great, the removed her entire leg and hip joint. They tried to create a little bit of a cushion with the tiny bit of muscle she had to protect her pelvis when she's scooching around the house. She will need her wheelchair modified in a few weeks to accommodate the loss of her leg. We're not sure what that looks like at this point but we will be taking a trip up to Eddie's wheels when the time comes to make it safe and usable for her. We had to buy a baby crib tonight for her to have a minimum of 2 weeks "crate" rest since she can't be in a crate/x-pen, travel crate bc of her good leg getting stuck and possibly injured. Her daddy, CJ, is lining the crib with plexiglass in front and solid panels on other 3 sides to ensure she has a safe place for her confinment period as I write this. We absolutely hate to even ask, but we were not prepared for the surgery estimate to be $7100+. If anyone is able to offer any assistance, even just a little, we appreciate it more than words can say. And if you can't, believe me, we completely understand. Please keep Brexxi in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers. It's going to be a long road but she is a fighter and I know in my heart she will be OK. We'll be holding our breath and watching her like a hawk until she is. The surgeon feels if all goes well the next 24 hours, she will be better to come home early instead of staying several days due to her disability and anxiety. We have everything crossed 🤞
