Preparing (and tasting) the liver cake for today's good citizen awards. Good luck to all members taking part... Let's hope the weather is kind to us all
Went out searching for the missing dog which unfortunately we didn't find. Stopped off for lunch on the way home at Wild Blackberry Cafe . We will go back again tomorrow if still not found. If you do help search,.please look quietly and don't call her name.
WARNING.... this video contains bad language and is very upsetting.
I try not to post upsetting videos but as a horse and dog lover this just isn't ok.
The rider deserves a medal for keep her cool and the horse deserves a medal for being so calm. Rhe poor child is clearly traumatised by the whole experience.
And the simple fact is the dog is not trained to be off lead and is an example of what can happen if your dog doesn't have recall. I am sure there will be plenty of people blaming the breed but I have seen many times when different breeds react the same . I have had my own experience where a dog (husky) clearly wanted to attack my own pony but the owner luckily did have it on a lead.
Please please please. If you don't have reliable recall, do not let your dog off lead and train it how to behave off lead.
This could have ended so much worse.

Congratulations to all those who passed their bronze or silver good citizen tests on Monday. I'm very much looking forward to handing out certificates and rosettes today 😁😁😁
Just to let anyone know who is coming to the club today the road is closed coming campsea ashe way. If you come this way you will need to find an alternative route. The road is closed just as you come off the a12. Come through rendlesham is probably the best route
Today we are managing to fit in some kennel club good citizen tests in between classes. Good luck to all members taking tests, I'm sure you will be fine... And remember we all take the best dog home regardless 😘😘😘
Thank you to everyone who came out to the Total Recall and Legendary Loose Lead workshops with Acorn Dog Club at Kembroke Kennels yesterday! 🐾
It was a hot day, but you and your pupstars tackled the games with incredible energy and enthusiasm.
I'm so proud to see the progress each of you made by the end of the day—it’s inspiring to watch you overcome challenges and grow together as a team.
No homework today (you’ve earned the break!), but keep an eye on your inbox—when those emails land, the real work begins!
Remember, I’m always here to support you on your journey. Keep up the great work! 💪🐶
PS my own learning target is to remember to take some pics or video at workshops...😜😘...for tax...pic of a lovely gift from a wonderful 121 client who has been making equally great progress 😍

Tomorrow temperatures are meant to get to the 30's so I have made the decision to cancel all sessions. Despite the hall staying nice and cool we have to consider travelling to and from and the heat cars reach whilst the dogs are training.
Again I urge you to think about your dogs in the heat and keep them cool.
If you can't walk early in the morning or late at night then don't walk them. Do some mental games with them instead.
Simply getting them to sniff out treats hidden in a room can be a great enrichment game for them, have a cue word such as find and help them search the room until they've found them all.
Another option is working on their training. If they can already do something well, think about how you can make it slightly harder.... Here are a few ideas for you:
Ask for a down at a distance,
Stay whilst you leave the room,
Wait and retrieve a toy,
Hide a toy and ask them to find it (start easy so they understand the game),
Do a trick they can do well at a distance (or what about behind you?),
Teach them to weave through your legs,
Teach them paws up on different objects,
Work on hold of different objects (a ruler, a pen, remote control, an empty bag, a t-shirt (depending on dogs current ability)
The list is endless with dogs... Get inventive and feel free to share your successes ☺️
For all puppies out there.... Don't think 'they won't eat that' ..... Puppies eat anything and everything.... And here's some proof!!! I mean come on, a spoon????!!!!

For the purpose of members learning here is Bee doing her obedience class (or parts of)
Well a completely mixed bag at Halstead obedience show today. Some of the dogs had an off day and didn't strut their stuff as well as they can.
But some of them certainly did.... With 3 dogs from acorn getting placed in prebeginners 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Huge congrats to Rolo on his 2nd place
Maisie for her 3rd place
And Lovely for his 6th place
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
And on a personal note whilst myself and Bee didn't get placed in Novice she did some of her best heelwork but unfortunately she was a bit distracted with the proximity of the dog in the next ring but I'm over joyed at her willingness in this much harder level
We snuck out this morning whilst the sun hiding behind the clouds. I couldn't have been more.impressed with all the dogs today, fantastic work on the roads, then to the field for some work amongst the other dogs... Including recalls, heelwork, and off lead heelwork.
Huge congrats to Ruben and owner for passing their foundation 2 award .... And they got my monthly mention for their improvements. He really is turning out to be a beautiful boy with the behaviour and obedience to match 🥰🥰🥰
A slightly longer video to accompany my reel for those who want to see a bit more of the training side of things 😊
I thoroughly enjoyed myself training at Kembroke Kennels and Cattery today. It's so nice having 2 very different venues for training. Today we did some weaves to help with luring techniques, then some long distance recalls showed how great the dogs were at choosing their owners over the other dogs. Then it was on to some toy/treat finding fun; finishing on some stay exercises.
If you would like to join some training to learn different activities and handling techniques without the formality of weekly classes then this is the option for you.
Taking place on Thursdays at 9.45am at Kembroke kennels (ip10 0bu).
Classes are kept small so lots of time for training and great for dogs who need their own space.
Email [email protected] to book
Such a shame when people can't make the last session of the puppy course but well done to all puppies, including those who weren't there to receive their certificate today (I will save for you and give when I see you next).
I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching this group of puppies and owners and can't wait to see many of them continue on in the improver course
Huge congrats to Maisie and her human for winning level 3 in scentwork UK this weekend. They really are proving to be an awesome team in both scent and obedience 😀😀😀😀
Today we had a trip to Thetford and even brought Flo along so we didn't have to rush back. Huge thanks to Zoe and the team at Kembroke Kennels and Cattery for looking after agility for me 😀
The dogs had a lovely time exploring the woods whilst the others went on a bike ride. Flo stayed with my husband as her little legs were tired after watching the children do go ape in the morning
Who doesn't love a summer evening walk. Amazing that even though the sun has gone and it's plenty cool enough, Bee still got hot and needed to walk rather than run
Today I'm going over to my sister's whilst my brother is home from Australia . We will enjoy the sun, sat around the pool enjoying ice creams and cool drinks. Will I take my dogs... NO. why? Because they would want to be with me and it's simply too hot for them to be walking on the hot patio. Tomorrow I was meant to be going on a nice walk with the dogs with the whole family. Will I take my dogs now ? NO. Why? Because it will be too hot for them to walk in this heat.
Whilst many of us enjoy the sun and probably make plans which involve our 4 legged members of the family, sometimes we just have to change our plans. Do we want to, no! But it it is so necessary. It is much kinder to leave your dogs at home in this heat.
Don't be selfish, don't be foolish. Leave them at home, in the cool and take them out last thing at night when the weather is cooler
Bear having fun in this morning's session over at Kembroke. This hours training is all about learning different things 😊
The end of another puppy improver course last night. This course has been a weird one with people having to drop out due to personal issues so we had just 6 dogs in the end. But it was lovely as all the dogs I have known since tiny pups. And what's even better is the majority are staying on to continue their training with me 😀😀😀

A little chat about extension leads.... Please do not use them.... If you want to let your dog have a run use a training/long line.
Super dog award goes to wren today. The handle on her lead broke so I randomly dropped it and asked her to find it. Something she's NEVER done before, she's never even seen the handle. But she absolutely smashed it!!!
A slightly longer video to accompany my reel for those who want to see a bit more of the training side of things 😊

Bear having fun in this morning's session over at Kembroke. This hours training is all about learning different things 😊
Yesterday in our heel work to music get together we looked at some different moves, use of props and different types of music and what moves you might use for them. Can't wait to do another intro course later in the year to get more budding dogs and handlers in to the sport.
Reuben and owner had lots of fun today in their 1-1. Reuben comes to weekly classes but has had some issues with recall. Today he was learning that engaging with his owner was lots of fun.... And his owner learnt how she can use things around her differently to keep him interested and engaged. So next time she calls him he WANTS to come back as good things happen
So the cat brought in a bird this morning. Managed to get the bird out of cat but whilst I was locking him away I returned to find the bird gone. Unfortunately there was small bit of blood on the floor and I tried but couldn't find it. So I brought wren in,.cued her to sniff and off she went trying to find it. Unfortunately we didn't so I'm hoping he flew away but what a good girl for trying
A bit of real.life training today... Practising for a cafe situation.... All dogs settling down then loose lead walking holding a tray
Another great exercise... Off lead A recall followed immediately by weaving in and out of the group and finishing at the end. Dogs had to sit closely together as the line moved up each time a dog completed the exercise. The noise you can hear in the background is the netball group... Just another distraction our dogs have to ignore 😊
First little scent workshop today. 3 of the dogs are new to scent work so amazing work from these dogs. Lots for the owners to go away and work on!
Wren doing some outside free searching. Something we haven't done for a long time but we're working on motivation so trying something different for a change. Very pleased with this search
A video from nicer weather!!!! All dogs in a stay outside. We don't have private grounds so anyone could have walked on with their dogs at any stage. Very well done to all dogs and handlers for succeeding 🙂🙂🙂
