ANNOUNCEMENT
WE ARE CLOSING …
From today until January 10th
for a much needed break! It is custom not to rehome birds nor to take in birds over the holidays (except for extreme life or death emergencies) so we are taking this opportunity to all take a step back and take time to have a break .
We are not available to take boarders over this period either except previously arranged ones .

This year we are having to extend this closure to found birds also, we cannot take them in due to avian flu being unaware of where they have been or what they have been in contact with. To do so would jeopardise our residents and we are not prepared to take that risk .

Can I refer anyone who wishes info on how to rehome or how to hand a bird into the rescue to our information posts pinned to the top of the group . Further information will be available if needed after we return on the 10th jan .

Can I respectfully ask we are given this time to take this much needed break from a voluntary vocation that runs 7 days a week for the rest of the year .

And finally can The Management wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
now the summer is upon us with better weather and we’re all vaccined up we are working to get some work here underway .
There has been work going on here for a while now but if anyone can or has a handy husband who can give our trustees a hand it would be soooo appreciated .
If anyone has any time to volunteer and any skills or muscle to bring to the table we are looking to get various jobs underway .
Volunteers are welcome on any day but Saturday is the usual day where things are mostly happening .

We have a concrete base to get down for our 16ft x 10ft shed .
We fetched the shed yesterday and there were five of us turned out to dismantle it load it up and unload at the other end which was great !

The shed will need putting up once we have a base down , if will want painting either before or after ,there’s an aviary to put up , there’s a treestump to come out first and a base to put down there in between ,we have 18 gravel boards to slot in to fenceposts ( I cannot even move one never mind help lift it 6ft in the air 😳 ). There is painting to be done around the aviaries too .

There is some electrical work needs doing if we have an electrician out there please  ? One who can spare us some times to replace a socket , add a couple of extra sockets in the birdroom and put in some electric to outside would be amazing . We also have a lovely set of 8 cctv cameras need fitting and a security light to the back door area to cover around the aviaries area to be added , another security light covering the bottom where the shed will be going needs replaced , it’s only a few months old but there’s just a little round glow comes from it now .think the light is faulty .

The weeds grow every time I turn my back . They are being kept back using a strimmer and a hedge cutter until we get the area gradually developed for the rescue as we need it . A couple of hours once a fortnight to do this would allow one of our team to spend the time doing something else on the list .
