Fiona has her second vet visit yesterday as her Cushing's level is in the "grey zone" so she most likely has cushings and cannot have the injection to help her with pain.

Fiona is running out of options at this point so she had x-rays done in the front to assess how badly she is lame. Fiona has ringbone in the front left and is compensating extremely in her right foot. So at this point she is going to have corrective shoes put on to give her one last try at a decent retirement.

Fiona is the sweetest, most gentle and caring gentle giant I've seen here. She's careful around people and if a cow gets too close to one of her humans she begins to charge at them from her side of the pasture. Even with her discomfort she was patient and looking for guidance during her X-rays.

For now Fiona is living her best life with a few other friends (some of them are not even 1/4 of her size and they all get a long. Without fail Fiona rolls in every mud pile possible changing her color from white to almost black 🤣

We've had quite a few horses that have joined the herd this year, between boarders and a couple rescues we have our hands full. Nicole joined us last year by leasing a horse to ride and she hasn't left since. She recently adopted her mare in late spring and has consistently been working with her through her problems.

Horses need consistency so when you buy a horse just remember it's not like turning a key on in your car, they need structure and a daily routine.

Between Nicole, Kathy and Kelsey the horses run on a routine everyday. Adequate turnout is an absolute must and shouldn't be cut short. Hay a Volonté and a necessary diet supplemented with grain or vitamins specific for each horse.

It takes a village for everything farmers do so thank your trainer or barn owner for everything they do on a daily basis for your horses 🙌

Your horses diet is probably one of the most important factors to a healthy horse and a happy one. Horses develop problems along the way which can happen but should be addressed efficiently.

For us, as a customer of Meunerie Benjamin we have the service of an Equine Nutritionist! Sabrina who has visited a few times now helps us to address and change horses diets if necessary here at the barn. There is a large variety of horses varying from young to old who have different needs.

A huge shout out to Service Vétérinaire Ambulatoire EquiVet inc. who do their absolute best for our horses every visit 🙌 Fiona has quite a few problems that have been diagnosed today. 80% of these problems are in her legs. There's arthritis, ring bone and of course untreated thrush. Fiona is also closer to 18-19 years old with melanoma growths under her tail and beside her eye.

We're currently waiting for blood test results for Cushing's to see if she can have injections to lessen her pain. None of this would have been possible without the donations from everyone through the GoFundMe and who donated privately! Help Us Give This Sweet Mare a Second Chance at Life

Hi friends!

We’re reaching out today with a heartfelt request. Yesterday, Kelsey and I (along with Kathy) decided to attend a horse auction just for fun, but, as fate would have it, our hearts were stolen by a beautiful mare who desperately needed a second chance.

When we entered the barn, we were drawn to her instantly. Despite her sweet demeanor, it was clear she was in rough shape. Her legs were severely swollen—something we had never seen before, and we knew immediately that she needed help. After seven hours of waiting and hoping, we were able to bring her home to Miltimore's Maple Hill Farm, where she now has a forever home.

However, this is just the beginning of her journey. She will need significant medical care, time, love, and resources to help her heal and regain her strength. We are fully committed to giving her the care she needs, but we can't do it alone.

We’re asking for your support in helping this sweet mare get back on her feet—literally. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward her vet bills, treatments, and all the costs of bringing her to full health.
