A flushable cat litter is less smelly and more convenient than packing your cat's f***l matter into the outdoor trash can every night.
But do you know it's doing more harm than good?
Apart from clogging your toilet, it can also introduce harmful parasites into water treatment plants that aren't equipped for pet waste.
Cat waste, in particular, can contain the parasite Toxoplasma gondii.
Most water treatment plants are designed to handle human waste only—not animal f***s and not a parasites like T. gondii.
Adding in litter and cat waste creates more for the treatment plants to, well, treat, and if the pollutants aren't treated, they can circulate through the water system and infect humans.
Even though flushable litter is advertised as such, it isn't safe to flush.
Some products aren't even designed for septic systems, and some septic systems simply won't break down materials like cat f***l matter and litter.
If you are using a water-saving toilet, which the US Environmental Protection Agency says can use just 1.28 gallons of water flush, it might not be enough to flush the litter and p**p away.
You may need multiple flushes for everything to go.
More water, more money!
What's now the solution?
You can either find a way to dispose of the litter properly (without flushing it down the toilet) or use the Keblam Automatic cat litter box.
