Had a great evening with my mom and Aunt tonight....old-fashioned porch sitting eating home made lemonade cake! And, as usual, Bear is right next to his favorite lady....he howled piteously when we tried to keep them separated while we ate dinner. It’s definitely a special bond.

Yes.....he is both majestically handsome AND monstrously dorky. The tiny red toy in his mouth is his current obsession and he squeaks it mercilessly.

Bear has had such joy meeting and playing with his half-brother, Patron, who recently came to live with my sister-from-another-mother, Diana Cortez. The pup is 11 weeks and Bear is 18 months, but already being a good big brother and showing the little one how to approach the big world with confidence and joy! More adventures to come!

Update on Bear....he’s a testament to rising above adversity. Just a few days ago he was recovering from a pretty intense surgery and graciously letting me manage a big drain in his neck. Today, the drain is out....the swelling in his neck is huge but should resolve over time and he is able to enjoy his chew toy again! No matter what life throws at this guy, he just soldiers through and finds happiness. Thanks for everyone’s prayers and good wishes....now my biggest challenge is keeping the big man down (and out of the pond!) long enough to let him heal!!
