Joining the oldies and stalwarts, because of some of the more recent goldies we’ve rehomed, we’ve picked up a few new followers along the way.

To those new followers this page might seem a little confusing - lots of photos of a beautiful goldie interspersed with occasional goldies for rehoming. Are we a rescue, are we just a goldie ?

So … to explain 😀 this page, along with JP the rescue Golden Retriever were part of Lokis Rescue. These two dogs, Luna and JP, were the most troubled dogs that came through the rescue . Both were on their way to be put to sleep before they were diverted to Lokis. Both serious resource guarders, both a bite risk, both unrehomable when they arrived with us .

Their pages were started to help them find homes once we’d rehabbed them … but once they found their happy ever after (Luna ended up staying with us because she refused to settle anywhere else), the pages have continued to update everyone on their lives. Very very happy lives.

Sadly Loki’s closed its doors to all general dogs earlier this year (funds ran out) but we continue helping out with the wonky goldies - as this is a bit of a gap in the rescue world. Thankfully not many broken ones come in - but when they do, there are very few places for them to go. We are saving our pennies to fund emergency kennels for those cases that we have to turn down because of lack of fosters, so Loki’s will continue in a very small and specialist way (probably under a different name tho).

In the meantime - you get to watch Luna and JP (… do give his page a follow), two dogs that were booked in to be euthanised for their behaviour, living their happiest, if not quite standard, Goldie lives. They’re ALWAYS worth saving ❤️

2 years my gorgeous happy joyful noisy silly playful clumsy excitable girl

2 years since your owners made the best decision since they bought you as a puppy - to put you to sleep. Because that decision led you to us (via an amazing vet team and a quick pit stop at the best ever trainer) and gave you a second chance where people would be nice to you, listen to you and understand you - which was all you ever wanted.

You may not be a “normal” Goldie - you don’t trust everyone without question, and you don’t want to be fussed by strangers (same here poppet), you don’t enjoy grooming so always look on the slightly disheveled side (yeah, same here poppet) - but let’s face it, “normal”Is vastly overrated in most walks of life

We can’t ever give you back the first 6 years of hell Looney Tunes - but you’re certainly making up for lost time as in Luna’s world every day is a day to be happy ❤️

A bright and (far too) early 😴 morning handing the wonderful Archie over at Cherry Meadows Secure Dog Walking field

So lucky to have this in our doorstep . Having tried lots of them, it’s my favourite in the area - totally secure (with CCTV), big enough to burn off some energy, not so large you can’t get the dogs back, and with loads of agility stuff to make it more interesting.

We use it alot for rescue handovers - the family and dog can spend an hour in a fun, low pressure environment hanging out, bonding, tiring themselves out and emptying bladders (dogs only please) before their trips to their new home. And it’s one of not so many fields you can get two cars into - which means handovers are 100% safe.

Even tho Archie isn’t actually one of ours ( I stumbled across his situation locally and said I’d help) this was his 4th visit to the field with me. Been getting to know him for a few months, and over the course of that time we managed to track down his original rescue. Between us - because getting a dog the size of Archie a home in these current tough times was always going to be a challenge - we’ve managed to find him the most amazing ongoing placement on the south coast.

I adore this dog - he’s got the bombproof staffie temperament, with the affectionate nature of a goldie, with the looks of a steroid head gym rat who looks like he’s going to head butt you. Meeting was a dream - he’s going to be very very happy

And today - he rewarded me with my first standup slobbery kiss as a thank you ❤️❤️❤️

If you don’t use the field yet - do ! But not so much I can never book a space 😝

❤️ WILF HAS FOUND HIS HAPPY EVER AFTER❤️❤️

We had a lot of interest in wilf the third time we advertised him, and after a successful meet, 5⭐️ homecheck, he is moving to his new family next week

His new dad is a dog trainer so this family will be perfect as smoothing off his rough edges and making sure both his activity and enrichment needs are met

🐕 - loves dogs
🧒 - fine with children
🐈‍⬛ - no cats
🧍‍♂️- loves all people
🏠- active
Reason for rehome - change to domestic situation.

Wilf is a gorgeous 2.5 year old boy, from working lines. Came from a known reputable breeder originally so all healthchecks clear.

Wilf is all bounce ... a bundle of joy and enthusiasm who is excited about everything and everyone. He will not suit a sedentary home - needs a good amount of exercise, and ideally a home that can give him some kind of mental enrichment such as scent work or retrieving - even if it's just for fun rather than a proper working life.

Wilf did have a few episodes of resource guarding during his adolescent stage, which is very common in the breed. This has been dealt with appropriately and Wilf will swap anything out for a high value treat. When a dog is rehomed, it's possible a regression will be seen as a result of house move stress .. so any applicants must be wiling to manage that, and follow the guidance we offer. We won't rehome a dog that has had resource guarding in the past to homes with young kids - hence the limit on age. This is not the reason for his rehome.

If you're interested in having a chat about Wilf, please drop us a message to the page to discuss him and the home that will be suitable for him, and we can drop you an application form.

As you all have seen we've got more goldies needing homes than ever .. and not just the tricky ones.

This boy has been "on the quiet" as we have been supporting a local family in finding their perfect family dog for a few months now. They needed a bomb proof calm dog, and we were offering a guiding hand in making sure they got THE perfect match. When we were asked to help find Big M his new home... we knew the perfect family for him was already on our waiting list.

Whilst their wait was long the resulting match was simply incredible.

This beautiful stunning simply gorgeous boy arrived with the family a couple of weeks ago and has settled in beautifully. Luckily for us he's really local so i get to see him really often ... which is good as i really had to remind myself multiple times that i could not keep him as 5 is far too many. This is the best of both worlds ... he gets a fabulous new family, his family have the absolute best boy, and i get face smooshes every few days

Another easy one coming along in a moment .. so watch this space

Further to yesterday's post .... some more details on the Golden Retrievers all looking for new homes

Male - working - 24 months. MILD resource guarding which has had behaviourist support and is improved - will swap out whatever he steals for high value treat. Lovely with people - great with kids although hasn't lived with them before. Being rehomed due to divorce and neither party can keep. .

Male - 9 months. Was returned to breeder by owner as unable to cope ... put into a mixed kennel of males and females, and billy big balls decided to do a teenage show off display in front of one of the girls - which led to the older male in the kennel having a pop at him. However - he needs work - experienced and patient owner only in short term - but if he needs to spend longer being retrained, that is also an option

NOW SORTED: Male - 3 years. Now been in kennels 6 months with no prospect of a home. He’s absolutely lovely and friendly , but can be reactive to other dogs when on lead. Loves children.

These dogs are all really urgent and desperate

If anyone can open their heart and home to “doing a luna” I can honestly promise that whilst it’s never the easy option, the rewards are great

Pm if you can help x

As some of you already know - Luna’s rescue (Loki’s) had to close last month due to finances. One of our goldies cost us a stonking amount in kennel fees, and then we were hit with an unexpected £3.7k vet bill - so we had no option but to shut. Don’t worry - Luna is still safe with rescue mum - we’re just not able to take any new dogs on

However - we’re still part of the goldie network - and there are 4 dogs absolutely desperate for homes which we need to try and help with

Male - working - 24 months. No details as yet - will update tomorrow

Male - 9 months. Lack of boundaries has led to dominant behaviour towards other males. No issue with females

Male - 3 years. Now been in kennels 6 months with no prospect of a home. He’s absolutely lovely and friendly , but can be reactive to other dogs when on lead

We’re trying to mop the floor … looney tunes would prefer some head scratches

She’s quite comfortable with physical contact now - the more the better these days, AND she likes head kisses finally
