It's one of the best-looking boomslangs to date!
This overfed monster was caught by Will de Meyer, and I had the chance to interact with it before release.
It wasn't too pleased with any handling, so we kept it very short, but we got some excellent shots of her!

You constantly talk s**t behind everyone's back but have the nerve to say you have respect and were raised right? Respectfully, shut the f**k up 🫶
Respect is earned not given freely. You don't deserve anything from me, especially after attacking my family and friends' family.

But anyway, last post about degenerates. Here's 3 Cape cobras that were caught on the same day. The reddish brown one laid eggs recently, and the duller speckled one unfortunately regurgitated 4 meals during the capture but he had 4 western cape leopard toads inside of him and one of them actually managed to survive and was released back where the snake was found.

This is probably the biggest boomslang I've ever seen!
We measured her, and she was just shy of 2m long!
For reference in the first photo, I am about 206cm long, and she is almost as long as me!

This girl was caught in western cape and shortly released after a day holding period as she had a few broken ribs or spine. Which makes you wonder why there is almost never any boomslang captures from people who solely use tongs👻 I have now caught about three boomslangs with very similar injuries to this girl and I whole heartedly suspect it's from someone using tongs in an incorrect way as there is no external injuries which would negate the thought of an animal or person trying to kill the snake.

But anyway, she's a stunning animal and has full mobility of the lower portion of her body, so she was released safely back into the wild where she belongs!

Thank you for your enlightening knowledge and expertise around handling you absolute degenerates. Had a very fun time getting all the handling n***s off my page. Now, please stay gone. If you don't like what I do, I do not care. Just take your negativity elsewhere, I'm sure someone wants to hear your s**tty opinions it's just not me 🏃‍♂️

This presumably female boomslang was caught while trying to get into an aviary for a quick and easy meal. This snake was one of the bigger boomslangs I've caught in recent years, and she had an attitude to match her size!

Boomslangs are very arboreal snakes and come in an extremely diverse colour pallette, depending on where you are in Africa. They are also sexually dimorphic, which, in simple terms, means that males and females have distinctive different characteristics from one another.

Boomslangs are rear fanged venomous, which means that their fangs are right at the back of the mouth just underneath their eyes. They can sometimes have two or three pairs of fangs at the same time as snakes constantly shed their fangs throughout their lives, similar to sharks. Their fangs are also not hollow like most other venomous species like vipers and elapids(cobras) they have grooved fangs that venom drips down into their prey item.

A common misconception about boomslangs and their bites is that they have to 'chew' on you to actually envenomate you or that they can only bite you on an appendage because of them being rear fanged, which both are not true I believe the maximum amount a boomslang can open its mouth to is about 170° which would make it easy to bite a person wherever it pleases and for the chewing, boomslangs have the most toxic venom out of any snake in Africa. The amount of venom needed to kill a grown man can sit at the tip of needle, so a scratch is all that is needed for a fatal envenomation.

That being said, these animals are very shy and extremely reluctant to bite, and our antivenom, if administered in a timely manner, is extremely effective. Boomslangs will only bite if provoked, so if you ever see one, just leave it be.

They do have a very potent yet extremely slow acting hemotoxic venom, so if bitten, you do have a lot of time to get to the hospital, but do not wait for symptoms of the bite to appear, head straight to the hospital.
