These tiny little powerhouses are guinea fowl eggs. I have a small group of guineas in with my other poultry and they are LOUD and kinda wacky. They aren’t domesticated birds like a chicken or duck. Guineas come from Africa and are popular for their very dark meat, as well as eggs. Outside of Africa, guinea eggs are also very popular in Asian and French cuisines. Their eggs are a little smaller than chicken and shockingly triangular, but inside are mostly a thick, creamy yolk, with just a little bit of white.

I have cooked these over easy and my toddler LOVED them over crispy hash browns. 🍳❤️

Update: my wooly pigs behaved over at Aaryn’s house today, and they didn’t even make a dent in his field. 🤣 It looks like they will be invited back, and they can bring a few friends along. Thanks, Aaryn!!! ❤️

And our neighbor Aaryn is the best.

He has let a portion of his field grow and fenced it off. For my sheep. ❤️ So, Elvis and Terry are hanging by Aaryn today, providing some lawn maintenance. 🤣

Terry is my favorite 🐑 guy around here. He’s sweet, calm, loving and patient. Not to mention HANDSOME. He willingly interacts with my toddler daily and stayed with Dolly in the “maternity ward (pasture)” until she lambed. I only removed him because poor Dolly was going to be super annoyed by her high-maintenance lambs soon, anyway! 🤣 His siring days ended here when he fathered a daughter (Tammy) a few years ago. Now, he’s just a happy, wooly dog.

It’s a girl! And a girl! 💞🐑

My wonderful Dolly’s unseasonal pregnancy (she usually lambs in February) resulted in two ewe lambs Saturday night. Dolly is a wonderful mama and got them all cleaned up and fed right away. Mama received a hard earned watermelon treat this morning. And some apples. 🍉🍎🌾

To all friends and REGGULARS, they are very visible. Feel free to gawk and interact if they approach you on the fence line. Do not enter their pasture. Thank you. ❤️

I woke Petunia early this morning because I was worried. She was fine! She got an apple treat with her breakfast and quickly took a walk afterwards to 💩. She had no worries about her new entrance and getting outside! I’m just hoping she has no trouble finding her way back…

I got her fine art hung up for her, also. 🤪

There have been a LOT of fast changes here, lately. Mostly out of necessity, but they had also been planned for the long-term. We did build a barn this year, and it’s taken a lot longer than planned because of our wacky winter (or lack of winter…).

Most importantly, Miss Petunia has finally been moved to her permanent home. 🐷 She’s been in a shed temporarily, and she’s now in her own cozy room in the new barn. I’ve given her back her bed from her previous home (she’s been sleeping in straw here, so I’ve been hanging onto it, waiting to give it back to her once she was moved). She hopped right into it. 🐖 She will have her own entrance to come and go as she pleases. I also washed the blanket that I gave her when she arrived here, and took it back out to her this evening and tucked her in. She was so comfy she didn’t even stir. She’s just HAPPY. ❤️🐽 I’m eager to see how she navigates around in the morning. She does have some vision impairment, and it will be interesting to see how she figures it all out.

The shed Petunia was living in will become a lambing shed (more about that later), as well as used for shearing and food storage. It’s been an awful, dragged-out process to get electrical to all the buildings this year. We ARE getting there, though!

Petunia has been a huge concern for me. She had a heartbreaking adjustment period when she arrived here last year and I have been very anxious about moving her again and changing her routine. I’m so relieved she is comfortable so far! Keeping her trust is important to me and she had no problem getting a nice belly rub from me tonight. ❤️
