My girl!!! 😍 Petunia is is such a happy sweetheart! ❤️🐽🐷
The birds got a strawberry pie treat!
Miss Petunia says “THANK YOU” to Tom Kosciesza for the (very unapproved) strawberry pie piece she enjoyed this evening! What a treat!
Check out this happy lady! 🤪
Miss Petunia will probably stay inside all day because of the dang rain! But, she was very happy eating her breakfast! ❤️🐷
Everyone divided up perfectly at their feeding stations today! 🤣🐑❤️🫏🙄
Donkey mud spa treatment! 🤪🫏
Please disregard my toddler yelling in the background for me to play her new current favorite song, and not record this… 🙄
Cabbage for breakfast!
Cabbage is always an appreciated treat around here! This morning, I put out a red and green and for whatever reason, they devoured the green first. The red was still scarfed up - IN MINUTES! 🤣 ❤️🥬
Thank you to Jen Tischer Dries and Mark Michel for the donations! 🐓🦆🦚🪿🦃
MAMA HAS HAD ENOUGH!
Dolly is here to correct her wethered lambs (even at a year old, mama is still mama!). 🤣
THIS is how I measure spring in sheep. The HEADBUTTING. The boys are so over the top. It’s all day. 😩 The girls avoid them as much as they can this time of year. Dumb boys. 🐑
I forgot to post this Tuesday!
I came home from with with a bucket of freshly boiled red potatoes (still warm) for the birds and they scarfed it up! Thanks, Tom Kosciesza! ❤️ it was perfect for them on a wet, chilly evening!
You never have to tell an emu about dinner. They just know.

Petunia chomping breakfast
Good morning from the lovely Petunia while she was munching her breakfast! 🐷❤️☀️
The ducklings had the opportunity to take a bath while we dumped their dirty brooder bedding. We always say “ain’t no party like a baby duck party, cuz a baby duck party don’t stop!” 🤣
They are SO GROSS, though. Even geese aren’t gross like this.
Petunia rooting
Today sure became GLOOMY!☔️
However, just yesterday, I took a great video of happy Petunia in the sunshine, showing exactly what “rooting” is. Pigs flat noses are perfectly designed for getting just under the surface to find grubs, nuts and ROOTS! 🤣
You may have a memory of pigs with rings in their noses. It’s animal cruelty and it prevents them from doing this behavior that is natural to them. This is how pigs forage. ❤️ Yes, pigs can be destructive in this way, but this is what they’re built for. Space, food and patience are key. I really wanted a pet pig in my 20s and after learning all this back then, knew my mom would kill me in our suburban paradise.
I even first said no to bringing Petunia here on the farm at first. And it haunted me - I knew I needed to learn more after I felt so guilty initially saying no. And Petunia has ABSOLUTELY become one of my favorite characters to see every single day. She’s a gentle, loving and kind lady. Petunia has some vision issues still, but her hearing is incredible now that she’s lost all that weight. And I swear, she can smell me or sense me most mornings, even before I call to her.
She may make this look effortless, but this girl is STRONG, and our soil is very heavy and waterlogged right now. 🐷 Petunia will root and root, then take a look around and decide that she’s made herself the perfect cool napping space to lay in! 💤
Happy tail!
Petunia is happy to be rooting around on this mild, sunny day!
One handed goose yolk whisk
Look at how custardy goose yolks are - uncooked! 😍
Peacock bum
Have you ever wondered what the OTHER end of a peacock looks like?
