I have to tell you all about my weekend adventures again. We did the long car sleep after the Mums (and my sister this time too) did the big pack up. It was night time when we got out of the car and into the big wobbly house. ⛺️
Thor and I had our dinners (a bit late!) and tested what bed we wanted... I chose my sisters! Thor chose his Mums, my Mums and then his Mum's lap.
We were in a big field with lots of fields all round. Night time was weird because it was a big moon and not dark.
We went to the shop place so the Mums and my Sister could pick things up and put them down and stand looking at books! Then the food place - we had chips, cheese and ham. Thor doesn't like sitting on the floor, so we had lots of treats to tell him it was ok.
We had ice-cream back in the field! 🍦
There were people in more wobbly houses, further up the field and they were cooking outside. 🌭🍔🍗
It smelt nice.
Bedtime, and Thor and I picked our best spots again. Everyone went to sleep, but I woke up and remembered the nice smell across the field. I'm not usually very dainty or quiet but us Kelpies have a stealth mode that we can deploy when it's really necessary. I spotted a gap under the whizzy door that hadn't whizzed all the way shut so I took my chance! I limbo-sneakied out and then tiptoed over the crinkly carpet and limbo-sneakied under the outside whizzy door and Mmmmm! I could smell the cooking thing.
I trotted off to investigate and see if I could help wash up. (Helpie Kelpie always)
Next thing there's all drama and torches and everyone is calling me! I'd only licked a little bit!!!🤷‍♀️ Anyway... I trotted back to Mum and happily curled up in bed! I honestly don't know why they were making so much fuss!!! 😕 🙄
The doors were all whizzed up tight and anyway, I was tiredy now so I got to snoring!
The next day the Mums cooked outside so i could try to lick our own grills 🤣 then we went to the big water place 🌊 Thor loves getting all wet and sandy... nope. Mum tried to help me to get into the water so I tried a bit but I like it without the splashy things 🌊 so I stayed up the beach.
At the end of the walk was 🐟 and 🍟!!!
Thor and I did good bed testing and sleeping that night!
On Sunday we went to a farm! I think it's a nice place and I only barked when things stared at me (a chicken and one alpaca) and when I got tired, a few dogs. It was a rescue place apparently and the horses were HUGE!
It was time to go home so the wobbly house was all packed up and things squashed into and on top of Mums car. While our people were pulling pegs up, I thought I'd wander over to say hello to our new neighbours. Mum had said I wasn't so friendly with dogs I don't know, but after watching them for a while I decided they were ok. My Sister dropped me in it! Here came Mum! Uh oh 😳 I must remember to stay put! It's just that I'm curious and I know where I am!
So home we came, via Thors house and my Sisters. And yesterday I thought I'd try out my independence again by visiting our neighbours! Apparently that's not something I should do without being asked! Mum said that I need to stop wandering off on my own now! Ok. I won't do it again... 😉 Not sure I'll get a chance now though! Mums in watch mode!!!

Things I did right:
Didn't react to the dogs in town
Tried going in the sea
Lay down in the pub
Didn't steal any food in the tent
Only trod on Thor once
Washed up both our bowls after each dinner

I love holidays! Even when they're short! 🐾🐾

We went on another adventure last week!
I had a sleepover with Thor, and after treats in the garden we did the car ride. When we got out of the car there was my friend Zen! Like magic! We played, I barked then I stole her bed for a while! Thor steals mine all the time as you can see!
We went to the sea... I went into the sea, but no one took pictures as Mum had to do lots of the encouragement with treats. I did the bouncing backwards thing but I got wet and Mum was very smiley and I got lots of treats. So did Thor but he goes in so much that he gets all stiff. I just stand still... not like it much tho. A bit cold! The Mums did swimming! They mad 🤦‍♀️🤔
I tested the caravan sofa and the deck for comfy spots. 8/10 for the sofa - a bit bouncy! 4/10 for the deck - it was hard but the sun was there.
I was walking without my lead a lot this time. I don't do the run away thing now really. I pretend to not listen but I know when I have to go back. I'm a Kelpie 🤷‍♀️
My Happy was really loud on this trip and I did the smiley face so much!
I met 2 little people and I really liked them. I lay down with them on the sand hill. I got gentle strokes and I was gentle back. 😌 😇 They have chimkin nuggets and they have ham... 😛😋
Everyone said I was much gooder than last year with dogs when I met them. I only barked at ones I don't get... ones without noses and ones who bork at me first... or if I was tired. Then I bark at everything 😈
So I'm home now. I liked going to the plastic house again!

I might have just eaten a whole packet of duck coins. 🤭🫣
I found them in a bag... it just fell open and Mum was out so basically, I tidied up. 😇
Mum's not happy. 🥺
My tummy probably won't be later. 🤢

Thor and I had an adventure this last weekend! We did a long car ride - I told all the big lorries to go away!
We stayed in a wood in one of the little houses that auntie Tracey has... this one's not as huge as the normal one!
Thor had to check all the funny wood huts we found! I checked out how nice the grass tasted...
We went on a lovely walk before bedtime.
After breakfast we did another car ride and then we did lots of walking! Some on roads, some on the beach. Mum and auntie Tracey put up little houses in the sand piles and we slept there. The rain sounded like stones! I was a bit scared but snuggled into Mum.
We did another long walk, then met lots of dogs with people. There was funny music then all of us walked back along the beach... we were walking with Jet and her people called Chris and Kate.
Thor was tired and had a carry bag, but I walked. I was mostly good with all the new dogs, but me and another Kelpie barked at the weird flying thing! (Drone apparently)
I had fun!

Honestly! All I wanted was to finish up the pizza crusts!! I got a few little bits and then Mum put her plate on the table! So I wandered about looking bothered, till Mum got up to take me out... I saw my moment but couldn't reach so.....

I'm being super brave and lying on the sofa with Mum while outside is very noisy and flashy. I'm acknowledging it with my ears but staying close to Mum 💧💧⚡️

This is my best friend, Thor. He's very brave and loves water, he has helped me learn recall, helped me be brave in the boat, protected me from ejjit dogs who come too close, warms my beds up for me when we're camping, shares my treats and always let's me finish his dinners!
I'm so happy I've got such a great pal.

It's his birthday today... I won't say how old!! Please can you wish him the bestest day!

I've been on another adventure! Cornwall this time! We stayed at our friend's for a night - Thor and I were on squirrel watch and sofa warming duties..
Then camping again. We went to the beach, ate fish and chips and brave Thor went swimming! I did herding stuff on other dogs instead. We went on a rock climbing walk again... I'm much better at this now! I got a bit overwhelmed (barky) in St Ives with all the dogs and motorbikes, but then I'm still getting used to all this.
I love the tent bed... I didn't want to leave it.
I also like the pretend fire... very toasty. Thor wasn't allowed to sit by it as he sizzled his tail 😱🥵
I've also discovered a chin rest in the car... very handy when I'm tiredy after walking MILES!!!!
Where next Mum? 🐾🐾🙂

Another camping trip! I dined with Al Fresco (not sure who he is but I heard Mum say it!) Slept on the big squashy mattress this time, with my blanket, Mum's blanket and her arctic sleeping bag on me! It was proper chilly! I'm glad I learned to walk in wet stuff as it was very rainy and muddy everywhere. Thor and I got to try lots of food that fell on the carpet too! (Don't worry! Nothing bad... mostly crisps and crumbs and the odd sausage... some even got thrown in our direction when we were keeping the Mums beds warm!)
We went for a walk where we met a lot of huge birds! They just walked about like they owned the place! Noisy, flappy things all on the grass! 🦆🦢🦆🦢🦆🦢🦆
I told them they should be in trees, but apparently that wasn't polite, so Mum taught me to walk past quietly. It was all a bit over-exciting to begin with! I did see a duck in a box, but we had to leave her alone as she had eggs??? Do these weird things eat eggs too? I like them scrambled myself.
I did a LOT OF SNIFFING, new scents everywhere! Thor and I liked our walk... even though there were bridges - Thor doesn't like those!
I was very brave when the fireworks went off... very scared first, but Mum's got a big new camping chair and we both fit in it! I got up behind Mum and after a while, stopped shaking and relaxed enough to go to sleep! (I also managed to claim a lot more of the chair as I could push/slide Mum over 😈🤭)
I think I don't mind the noise of the beds being blown up now so much.
I did Northampton!

I did adventuring! Thor and me did car rides, camping, mud, sand, puddles, big rain, windy tents, snuggly blankets, sheeps, waterfalls, bridges, cuddles, sofas, beaches, woods, mountains, rain, loads of treats, barking, cafes, chips, sausages and lots of sniffs!!!!

Thor and I took our Mums for a lovely long walk today along a long path, through muddy tracks, a big field and woods. I did lots of hunting and pouncing! Thor paddled in the puddles. I showed off how good my recall is, made silly faces, Thor and I explored in the woods, I looked for squirrels in the trees.🐿
Then we had pizza! 🍕
I only barked at a couple of dogs, 1 bus and a van! Mostly I don't bother if I'm doing treat hunting games - I'm learning to ignore scary things now and dogs.
We walked back home and Thor and I had a sleep!
I'm a bit stiff legged now! And tiredy!! 😴😴

Mum made a bunny to show her sewing classes how it was done. I didn't have anything to play with last night, and Mum asked if I'd like the bunny (she said she'd make another one) so I said YES!!!! I loved playing with bunny! I made snow, I pounced on it, I growled and shook it and then I shredded all the edges! Look how much fun I had! Bunny is now in my toy basket! 💗🐾🐾🐰🐰🐰🐰🐾🐾 💗

Mum had to go out to help 2 rescue dogs this morning so I'm making sure I tell her how lovely I am!

I must be a good girl because every time.e Mum comes home from being a dog lady, she tells me how lucky she is to have me!

My Mum and Thor's Mum took us out for a special walk today .. well special for me as I am learning to make friends with Thor's cousins! It's a bit confusing as the little grey dog is also called Rosie! She was quite lovely and I liked her. The little wooly dog is called George and he told me off a few times - don't worry - I swore back!
Thor tried to grab my scatter treats but I'm waaaay too quick - my Mum scattered treats for him too! I think I'd like to play with these little guys.

Me and Thor took our Mum's out to meet Zen and her Mum this morning. I've not seen Zen since last summer but I remembered I really liked her! Very frosty. I met new dogs and was mostly good! Ended with pup ice cream! Yum!!!

When you ask a border collie to do something he happily complies and says ‘what next?’ When you ask a kelpie to do something he considers your request and says ‘what for?’ 😳 An explanation is often required!

Generalisations of course, but Kelpies are independent thinking dogs. We bred them that way.
We needed dogs here in Australia to work the wild merinos in huge unfenced paddocks on sheep that didn’t get handled much.

We needed dogs to cope with the heat, the burrs, and the big distances.

We needed dogs that could be left with stock and continue to work. Dogs that could be sent out to find stock and work without instruction. The kelpie is that dog.

The evolution has continued with the need for dogs to work cattle, work in the yards, to load and unload trucks, to back In the raceways. The kelpie did that.

Independent thinking dogs, tough enough for Australian conditions and versatile enough to work paddocks, yards, cattle, sheep and even blowfly’s if you needed it.

Consider that when your kelpie argues or thinks he can do it better, when he questions your request.

Consider that when he’s one step ahead of you or knows a job so well you are just in the way.

We ask a lot of our kelpie and they are different to many other breeds, but if you understand their thinking and he understands what you’re asking a kelpie is a compliant and very trainable dog.

Training a kelpie is just a little different and sometimes, without you knowing it, it’s the kelpie who’s training you!

I've done a Christmas! My first with my Kay-Mum and my sister and brother.
I've opened my own presents, learned to play tug and opened everyone else's presents (when I was asked mostly!)
I've had a Christmas Dinner! I tried not to stare-vibe when my people were eating theirs! I have new toys and yummy treats (thanks Lauren for those stick things) and Mum says she will take the squeaky out of my gingerbread man (I'm still really worried about these!) so I can play with it.
I played 'find' with a HUGE pile of boxes and asked before I opened them! There were treats inside and I did love ripping the boxes up!
I've had my Happy face on all the time (except for the fireworky bit last night - but cheese helped!)
Happy Christmas!

7 months on from the shaking petrified lift phobic me... now I love going in the magic box that sometimes goes to my sisters and sometimes to the little woods! 🐾🐾🍂 My brave words helped me overcome my scaredy self ... Mum taught me Ready Steady and if I hear them I know ill be ok 😁
