I just wanted to remind folks about the Fort Simpson Vet Clinic that will be happening from September 20-25. If you need an appointment please send a message to the page for Fort Simpson Vet Clinic with all the required info. Once you have sent a message please be patient and we will contact you when we are ready to begin booking appointments.

If you have a new puppy or know anybody with a new puppy please make sure they get an appointment to be spayed or neutered. We are very lucky to have the NWT SPCA and they need us to do our part to control our own dog problems and lessen the burden on this volunteer group who are often over worked. I visit the NWT SPCA whenever I can and I see all the work they do. It really bothers me to see people with puppies who give them to just anybody who says they want one and then those puppies have more puppies and the cycle continues. I often get calls from people who got a puppy and didn’t take time to house train or socialize their dog. The result is people dumping dogs on the SPCA that are more difficult to find homes for because they require a lot of training and attention. This means the SPCA has to pay to fly the dogs to Yellowknife and then those dogs take up space in the shelter that is already usually full and they stay in the shelter for a long time which means they can’t take new dogs until they find homes for the existing ones or they have to pay to fly them south to other shelters. There is currently a problem with over crowded shelters all across Canada and the United States. I know that I have been burned out from dealing with all the dog issues before and sometimes wonder why I bother when all my hard work is undone by just one litter of puppies being given away around the community.
Let’s work together and be responsible pet owners and try to make a difference in our community.
Fort Simpson has come a long way and we are among the best communities in NWT for the treatment of our pets but we can do better and set the example for other communities.
Sorry for the rant and run on sentences lol but I just needed to get that off my chest. Please message the page for Fort Simpson Vet Clinic to book an appointment. If you know anybody who doesn’t use Facebook please have them contact Troy at 695-6561. (I have a lot of other things going on so be patient and I will reply when I can)

If you send a message please give us the following info:
Your name
Pet’s name
Pet’s age
