Coming up on Christmas and many people want to surprise family members with a new puppy!! Awesome idea right?

Well maybe not so much..

1- The holiday season is often busy with visiting and visitors. This may not be the best time to put a puppy who needs training and a calm environment to settle into. You can cause more damage than necessary.

2- Kids love the idea of a puppy but the real work that goes in to a good family dog will be up to everyone. This means training not only the puppy, but every member of the household on how to interact with the new member, and we all know that small children don't understand how they can hurt a small animal.

3- Puppies don't stay puppies and they can be an 18 year commitment. Think of this before giving a puppy to anyone. We all know that seniors love company but a puppy will need walks and vets, not to mention a stable home for a very long time, is this possible for the household to give to a very active dog?

Adopting an older dog that is trained and needs a good home if possible. We have slowed down and we may only have a few years left but we're not nearly as high maintenance and you can make it the best years!
BUT STILL!!

We are not good holiday gifts, we need a nice calming environment to settle into and the holiday season may be too much stress for us.

Something to think about when looking for that perfect gift.

Hello everyone! Thanks to all those checking my page! ♡♡♡ Sorry I haven't posted lately, I lost my papa so it's been really busy. That and watching the garden and protecting my egg plants from squirrels!! Ugh, full time job I tell ya!

This weekend we learned that 3% peroxide, 1/4 cup of baking soda and 2 TBSP of baking soda works really well to neutralize the smell of getting sprayed directly in the face and chest by a skunk. Yes I ran after that skunk in the yard on Saturday night. Yes I was sprayed and bit a piece out of Mr. Skunk, and yes I have been hesitant to go in the yard alone since then. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So, I learned today that Ice cap licked off the seats of a 2021 Cadillac CT4 is much tastier than watermelon off the seats 2015 Nissan Rogue! My uncle Randy didn't think it was nearly as funny as I did. Mommy gave me the watermelon, but the ice cap... I did the ice cap on my own.

I went on my longest hike to date. 7 hours to the top of the Sleeping Giant and back to the vehicle. I stopped and cooled down in the lake a few times and had a half hour nap at the top after taking in the scenic views of Lake Superior. I ate all my snacks and drank all my water.
