There are not enough ways in the world to articulate how grateful we are to everyone who came out today. Over dinner, Mr. Pearly Acre and I discussed all the wonderful people we talked too, connections we made and all the familiar faces we continuously see here to support us. This is a very special place, and we absolutely LOVE sharing it with you❤️ THANK YOU to our community, our people- you are the best!

We are tired, the dogs are tired, the pigs’ have bellies fully scratched and full of pumpkin✌🏻 sanctuary life is good🐖

I had a Facebook memory today reminding me that it has been 4 years since Hughy and Georgie made my Kune Kune dreams come true!! The boys were the last pigs left on a farm available to be purchased for meat. The woman who bought them, brought them home intended for pets. When things weren’t working out- we drove to Perth (2 or so hour drive for us) to pick them up. They rode in the back seat of our truck- and as you can probably imagine, it was wild getting them in. Hugh and Georgie were the 8th and 9th pigs to join our family at our old property. Happy 4 years of sanctuary to our Kune boys- love, love you to the stars✨

Can’t believe it has already been 3 months of our Forest Fairy moving in. He has fit in so seamlessly, it is as if he has always been here.

We get email after email for owner surrenders of their pot belly pigs. As you can imagine, for a whole plethora of reasons- most of them being extremely un urgent. It has gotten easier over the years to detach from these emotionally. Although Forrest was LUCKY to have landed softly (after hours of work, mind you) it does not make what happened to him, okay. It is never right to dump an animal, let alone insecure in a HUGELY wooded area. If we were not in the position where we had the most AMAZING community support- even getting him neutered would have been a financial struggle for our sanctuary and frankly he would have become a burden. None of these things are considered when someone ‘thinks’ an animal is better off at a sanctuary. I will share his story, along with this piece of education through out his life.

Thank goodness he is safe, and he will in-fact live the best life possible❤️

THANK you for all the love with our new logo! You might be happy to find out that (finally) I will have some merch available, HOWEVER- the first stock that is coming in are Tshirts (adult and youth) that will be available for purchase at the Pumpkin drop. This order will only have the new logo on it. After that, anything that has not sold will be available to be shipped or picked up even.

There are currently some exciting upgrades in the works for more ease ordering merch, I’ll be able to talk about that more soon! This upgrade will include all the new graphics we have coming..😉

It’s time for a change that reflects who we are now. This sanctuary has been so profoundly impacted by two little souls that changed us forever. As many of you know, Pearls death was the seed that planted the tree. Sometimes I think that had she not passed, we’d still be a two pig house hold ( Shane begs to differ) I was not ready for her to be gone, although I never would have. But merely a year into understanding these animals, she was taken from me. Naming the sanctuary after her, when it was just a concept, a dream even; was an obvious choice and somehow it healed me a little. It felt like she did not die for nothing.

When we out grew our one acre property faster than I could learn to say ‘no,’ big pigs were like stars in my eyes. I knew what I had to do- I had to save the big pigs. Charlotte- I didn’t see her coming. Literally and figuratively.. she arrived at 1am from Quebec and I couldn’t see anything😂 I couldn’t sleep that night, I was so nervous waiting for her arrival. I set my alarm to wake up and in true fashion- she spent the first night in the trailer as she refused to get off. I slaved away making her love me. It was hard… she was big and she was angry. I did NOT see how this pig was going to one day become my soulmate. Slowly we came to a reckoning, and it lent in my favour- she let me love her and I learned to trust her. My world revolved around her. Of every minute I was home, most were spent with her-Even in winter.. just hanging out in the barn. Because of Charlotte being here AND because of her passing- there are other big pigs able to find peace here. I am not afraid anymore, she showed me what to do.

A logo is a representation.. and our representation would be inaccurate if Charlotte isn’t depicted. I look forward to people asking who the pigs are in the logo. When I was ready, I told that I needed to rebrand- and she was equally as excited to work her magic. Im so proud of our little collab❤️

You think this new logo is cute AF, wait til you see the new graphics by .smurphy 😉😉😉 imma drop that and back away slowly … Can’t wait to share❤️

Do you remember when these pretty sisters first came to us? I went with someone to a property to ‘just see’ these pigs. Apparently there had been 5 before I got there- and 2 had died. Origins were back to a old farm with irresponsible renters thinking they could make money breeding pigs 🙄 the males and females weren’t being separated and before you know it- the pigs were being distributed around town to other irresponsible people. Anyway, I left that day with three pigs😂 they were skinny, thirsty and afraid. These gals have been with us 4 years now 🥹

Phoenix and Opal came to The Pearly Acre, and Sage gets to live her best life at ❤️

We are so excited for our fall Event! Vegan snacks available for purchase from Rosemary & Rind. Hot drinks (coffee / cider) also available for purchase. Activities: Enjoy a 20 minute cuddle in the pen with the Pot Bellies! This will include a short educational component before entering. Warm up by the bon fire! Enjoy a walk along the wooded trail in the back 20 acres. Tickets 25$ per adults 10$ for kids 4 to 13 Kids 4 and under are free! Additional info: Please dress according to weather and location (you will be in a farm setting) You MUST have closed toe shoes to enter the pen. There will be Pearly Acre merch available for purchase. This event is attempting to be as waste free as possible! There will not be water bottles for purchase, please bring a reusable water bottle and we can refill it.

The absolute best part of my day is sitting in the long grass (or if you’re Mr. Pearly Acre; a stool because the grass is too pokey) with my big girls. This is where my heart is and even when I’m not physically- I’m still here.
