Someone went on their very first off property adventure last week! Firefly has fully decided she likes to adventure and be out on trails. She did so well with riding in the trailer and being out by herself in an unfamiliar environment. Can't wait to continue the progress!

Unicorn Alert: Phoebe Jeebe
🦋 8 year old
🦋 Mustang mare
🦋 Approx. 15.2 hands
🦋 Divide Basin WY HMA
🦋 Currently located in Pleasureville Ky.
Phoebe does it all. I don't quite know where to even start with her abilities.
She rides English and western, ba****ck and bridle-less, snaffle or halter; she has excellent ground manners, she is always easy to catch in the field. I have done all of her training from the ground up and she has been my go to mare for the last 6-7 years. I simply do not have the time to maintain her as she is an easy keeper.
🦋 Barrels, poles, jumping classes, county shows, obstacle courses, extreme cowboy races, and trail rides are just some of the courses we've done over the years. She has been a part of parades and at one time even been the only horse in the parade with the sirens and people. She travels and trailers well, she enjoys her snacks while on the road. She is one you can leave for a period of time and pull out of the field to the same horse every time.
🦋 She has been ponied off of, she has been given lessons off of, she is trustworthy enough to give someone her stop cue and she will come screeching to a halt if she even thinks you want a halt. She rides out with a group and alone with no issues. She ties and stands for the farrier and enjoys baths/grooming. She was my main mount when I worked at the stockyards pushing cattle all day. She has had some cow experience and is willing to face one and push it around.
🦋 She knows her front and hind end yields, she side passes, solid walk trot canter, halt and backing is phenomenal.
I will include video links in the comment section.

I will be selective on where she goes as she is one special horse. Asking 9️⃣8️⃣0️⃣0️⃣

"Softness in all I do"
What does this mean? This statement is only a portion of the motto behind LT's Borderless Equines. We aim to create Awareness, Intention and Softness in all we do.
What does this look like? I have been coming to the realization that it really is a lifestyle, a daily commitment and something to constantly improve on. It affects more than just horsemanship and equine related activities. As I've been traveling the last week or two I have found that it works with other species as well. How many times do we lovingly force our cat to "be" with us when they're just tolerating us and leave as soon as they can? How often do we give in to the mindset of must touch or pet an animal because of the cuteness factor even if they're clearly giving off elusive vibes?
Softness comes across in the horsemanship world by being firm as necessary but as light as possible to start out with, being aware of something that may cause the horse to become uncomfortable, and having the humbleness to recognize that there may be an issue and look into the root cause. So many times we forget to pay attention to the small things which over time become bigger and bigger issues.
There is such joy for me in helping both people and horses discover the softness possible when we pay attention and become more aware and intentional in how we do what we do.
When a person has an awareness of what they may be doing wrong or something that may cause an issue down the road, they are able to become intentional with their actions or changing those actions for the best outcome. Finally we can all become softer in how we ask our horses to complete a task.
Cats appreciate this approach as well when they know that they have a bit of a choice. I always consider it an absolute honor when a standoffish or nervous cat makes the decision to be present with me and allow me to give them snuggles. Same goes for nervous horses, the minute they make the decision to trust that I am a good leader and will stay consistently soft throughout their temper tantrums or emotional outbursts, they begin to consistently show softness throughout their body as well. It is something I will never take for granted, an honor I hope to never lose, and a privilege I hope to share with others.

Guess who is headed to their very first off farm adventure in one week?!?!?!
Firefly is coming with me to the Indiana Equine Roundup to participate in a few of the clinic sessions. She has been working hard to build confidence under saddle, this was one of her first times with the big heavy saddle and as you can see, she was incredibly unsure. Disregard my running commentary as I was talking to someone during the video.

This could also be applied to mares. People do not like mares because they're "fussy", or they are "opinionated", they are "witchy" or any number of other terms. Mares appreciate having an opinion on things which can make them both fun but can also be a bit of a pain. They are the ones that will be a partner willing to jump through fire and try anything for you if you are kind. Working with mares is a challenge but well worth earning their trust and respect.

This is how it begins. The stuff of dreams, Circa 2019. LT's Borderless Equines has been built from the ground up by the LTBE team. It started out with a grant and has been slowly gaining traction as the years have gone by. We are so grateful for each and every one of the people who have believed in our goals from the very beginning and the clients that help make this possible. Now we offer two stalls as well as pasture turnout with run in sheds available in each pasture. If you are interested in sending your young horse for starting under saddle, your older horse needing a tune up or your horse with behavioral issue for training, please send a message! Thank you for coming along on this journey!

You simply have to start with doing the best you can with the information you have. If you're facing an issue that you're not sure where to start getting help with in your horsemanship journey, I would love to talk with you.

Happy International Womens day! May we all keep in mind that impossible is simply a viewpoint. Changing the perspective a tiny bit sometimes is the key in that the things you may find impossible are actually something that says "I'm Possible". Continue reaching for your goals!
