Unfortunately, this happens more often with some dogs:
For example, they already snap when a stranger
comes too close to them. ๐
This is a big problem because the dog
becomes a danger to others and is
under constant stress.
For the owner, this can be very
exhausting too.
Dogs usually only bite for 2๏ธโฃ reasons:
โ They are attacked themselves and defend themselves.
โ They show aggressive behavior when their food is threatened or their owner is attacked.
However, some dogs also bite when there is
no danger obvious to us.
Often, we as owners don't even recognize
what is scaring our dog.
It must be noted, however, that a dog
never bites without reason. There is always
a cause, even if we don't see it at first sight.
Of course, you may not understand why your dog
bites. Especially if you just put your hand out
to him. You don't want to hurt the dog.
You may even want to calm it down
or just pet it. ๐
But it could be that the dog has had a bad
experience before. Maybe it only associates
negative things with hands being held out.
For this reason, training makes sense.
The goal should be to show your dog
that the fear is unfounded in this case.
The biting reflex itself shouldn't be trained away.
