From my mentor, the Badass Breeder ! This is absolutely true. We follow a curriculum with our pups under 8 weeks and then we start on housetraining. Our puppies increase in cost and training as they get older. We are never going to "panic" , get rid of or price an older puppy for less. Our puppies are worth it! We will support our puppies for their lifetime!

Pupdate: Red the Great Pyrenees from Zane's litter is back at the farm Zane was born on! Red is a cherished pet, emotional support dog and a guardian! Raising puppies on the curriculum I use results in well balanced dogs. Red was not raised with any livestock at my home, but those genes are definitely there!

Pupdate: Zoe lives a wonderful life in sunny FL where she often spends time hanging out at the pool! Her dad John has this to say: " I don't know I think she's one of the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen , and shes happy just being close to her da da ❤❤"

Zoe is an F1B Golden Pyrenees and such a great dog!

Pupdate: Nothing makes me happier than seeing my dogs go out into the world and do great things. Garnet was placed just this week as a potential service dog. The lady reached out on the recommendation of a trainer I have worked with. Well, day 1 they went to a store and he did amazing and day 2 he already is alerting to a medical condition his new owner has!!

They are thrilled with him and we are very hopeful they will make a successful team! It was the sweetest meeting because he was instantly drawn to her! It's not a "sure thing" but we know for sure he has the gift of alerting like all of his siblings and parents do. It's just a gift they have! I can't train that and no one in our home has blood sugar or heart conditions.

Golden Pyrenees are my favorite combo. He is barely 1 year old and is mature beyond his years. This is why I often have dogs until they are older. Not everyone wants or needs a young puppy in their life. It's not true that older dogs can't bond. Almost all of my older dogs placements have been an instant connection.

Pupdate: Some people think Great Pyrenees are untrainable or stubborn! Apollo is the 2nd out of his litter who have promoted themselves to service dogs for medical alert. Pretty sure their mom Zane also alerts. So proud of all my pups! Apollo was supposed to be a guardian dog for goats and such. Well, as with most of my pups they find a job for themselves. He went for an initial evaluation and passed that. Many trainers also have a mistaken view of Great Pyrenees. I do credit the early socializing we do and the Empowered/ BAB curriculum.

Pupdate: Red has always been both a working guardian dog for goats and also humans on her ranch. She is from Zane's litter and Zane came from this ranch. When Zane's mom was tragically killed (no fault of her owners!!) It seemed only right that I offer Red to them. I didn't know she would turn out to be alert to fainting episodes and help her owners nephew. Plus her nephew has gone from not being sure about dogs to being best friends!

Pupdate and Soapbox moment:

People ask "What do you do?" And it gets awkward to say with confidence "I breed and raise dogs" immediately people conjure up an image of greedy people wanting to make a buck off a cute puppy.

However, everything is worth it when I get a report like this. Waffle the 3 year old Golden Pyrenees from my very first litter saved her boy's life recently. When I asked if I could share this photo his mom said, " Of course! Also, not sure if you saw but he (Waffle the dog) alerted to a massive infection we caught early. He saved Scott’s life- and that’s per the doc"

With tears in my eyes I post this beautiful story. Some might feel "well, that's a fluke and dogs know things. 5 of 6 pups from this litter have stepped in and helped their people in various ways. Some have had formal training to do so and some have naturally done it.

When people dare to say purpose bred dogs aren't needed or breeders are raising dogs for the money. Well, no. This is my why! Dogs helping and healing because they have been raised with respect and care and matched to the family they are best suited for! I raise my pups the Empowered Breeder way, but this liter was before I even knew all I know now.

I am very proud of Waffle and he makes me proud to do the job I am called to do raising dogs for this type of purpose. The majority of my dogs are assistance animals of some sort and a few are pampered pets who also step into this role if or when needed.

Pupdate: I love to hear and see how Lexi is doing! Lexi is just such a gorgeous pup! She has done great in her puppy lessons and looks so grown up! Thankful for my awesome clients who update me on their pups!

It is my prayer and hope that this will be realized! Responsible breeders are never the cause or reason for dogs in shelter. I am also committed to helping foster and assist when I can between litters.
