Non-slip flooring is one of the easiest ways to reduce injury risks, and to make floors easier for dogs with injuries or chronic conditions - it takes ALOT more work to stay nice and balanced when it’s slippery. The polished floorboards might look nicer but it’s a hard no from me.

The 5 minutes per month of age exercise rule for puppies is complete BS, and probably making a lot of dogs and humans lives more difficult!!
YOUR PUPPY WILL TELL YOU WHEN THEY ARE TIRED - LISTEN and have a plan for how you will manage if your puppy is tired - such as stopping and having a rest, or picking them up and carrying them if they’re cool with that.
Happy Thursday

#💪 Fitness = Confidence 💪
Just like us, when dogs are fit, they feel stronger and more capable physically. They are able to move more easily, jump higher, run faster, and navigate their environment with greater agility.
Through fitness training they learn where their limbs are in space (PROPRIORECEPTION) and this gives them confidence moving around.
Strength buffers against instability, which as anyone who as rollled their ankle or had a weak joint will know - can be SCARY and lead to distrust your own body!
Fitness involves problem solving, and solving a problem is really confidence building.
Canine Conditioning and fitness activities also often involve learning new things together! Which is FUN.
Bonding and Trust: engaging in fitness activities together strengthens the bond between a dog and their owner or handler. Dogs thrive on positive interaction with their humans, and this bond fosters trust and security, which can translate into increased confidence.
Just as with humans, physical fitness contributes to overall well-being in dogs. When they feel healthy, energetic, and well-cared for, their confidence naturally increases.
Long story short canine fitness activities not only improve a dog's physical health but also their mental well-being and confidence. Regular exercise, training, and positive interaction with their owners all play crucial roles in building a dog's confidence and helping them lead happy and fulfilled lives.

I just love helping teams achieve their goals!
One of my fave things is when new teams succeed or when my clients level up!!
I BELIEVE IN YOU!
What are you all aiming for?
🤩 One of my favourite cardio workouts is a good distance wrap/barrel.
🐾 Beautiful Willow and our fab friends and members at @paws_n_roll demo-ing some nice wraps at a moderate distance.
🐾 The further you move it the more cardio you get, meaning you can easily adapt for how your dog is feeling that day :) and bonus - you’re leveling up your barrels for hoopers!!
🤩 The two bowl game is an AMAZING tool to help increase task clarity, focus forward and independence - you can see Alice rewarding in the “bowl” (coloured plates on the ground.
🐾 We use LOADS of fun patterns like this inside our programs to help you LEVEL UP ⬆️ your skills for fitness and sports!! ⚽️
🎉 AND you can do it sitting down 🪑 so if you are unwell or different able, you can still work out your dogs 🐕

If you’re looking for motivation to give your dog what they deserve - an awesome canine strength and conditioning program so they can be safe and strong while performing at their best for as long as possible, I’VE GOT YOU!
I know what It’s like to have a sh*t 💩 coach and I know that hate it’s like to have an incredible coach.
My mission is to make it easy for you!
I have coached multiple sports from U12s to masters.
Dogs from chihuahuas to Malinois.
SAR teams for operational readiness to post rehab recovery for optimal stick chasing 👌
I have been coached at all levels in a wide array of sports.
I compete in nosework, agility, canicross and rally, and operationally run three working Labradors.
I have represented my country in ultimate frisbee 🥏
I have worked for two years to rehab my dog with a mystery condition so she could simply be a dog 🐕
I spend my weekends optimising my Labradors training schedule to shave seconds off our race times.
I know what it’s like to do hard things and the support and programs you need to get there, and I will be right by your side, whatever your canine conditioning journey looks like.

Pain Series: Episode 3
One the least well known signs of pain is zoomies. 🏎️ Most people think that this means a dog is excited.
🏎️ Zoomies are an expression of arousal, this could be good or bad and in response to a wide array of stimuli - including stress!
🏎️There could be many things going on here that could tribute to the link between pain and zoomies:
1. 🏎️ Movement is a major stress reliever in general, so it can feel good!!
2. 🏎️ Depending on the type of pain, it can feel better to go fast than slow!! (This is also a massive contributor to leash pulling)
3. 🏎️ Once warmed up ⬆️ pain can decrease ⬇️
4. 🏎️ A basal instinct can be to move away from negative experiences - if your dog makes a movement and it hurts - then they might be afraid and try to escape it, resulting in “running away” - sometimes this can spiral 🌀 as a result of the movement causing more pain, which can look like increasingly manic behaviour.
🏎️ Zoomies don’t necessarily relate to pain - they can also link to other reasons for being aroused or trigger stacked - like being overtired or super excited - like if you get their favourite toy out 🧸!! it’s important to look at the whole body and the pattern of behaviour to know what your are looking at.
🏎️ But if your dog is constantly over threshold when you get out and move around together, or engages in sudden zoomies in response to a similar movement pattern repeatedly, it’s important to rule out pain - off to the vet and/or physio for you!!
Other signs may include barking and spinning 😵💫

Talking about where to start, position changes, variations in your canine conditioning program to make exercises easier, how movements that seem simple aren’t always easy, and how every dog (and human) is an individual and we need to meet them where they are at.
