Hey all of our lovely followers....

Happy nearly Christmas!!!!
We've had lots of people asking how they can help????

Well....let's start with....

The things we are always struggling with...vets bills...

Recently we had an adopted puppy returned at 2 years old not spayed.... 🙈... the owners neglected to tell us and so suddenly we have to deal with a bitch in season... so we now have a spay fee we weren't expecting!!!

Repairing the fence.... we had a fantastic solid 6ft fence put in like 7? Years ago...but the recent high winds have taken some of it down... so repair bills....

General maintenance ... from washing their bedding to buying proper cleaner to buying new gravel so it's not so muddy....

Our bills are never ending....

Since we cut down on the number of dogs we are taking in to rehome, we don't have any kind of income to help with the basic running costs of the sanctuary....

So many forgotten dogs... from so many rescues... so many broken promises of life long support for the dogs we've taken in...

Sorry it’s been so long since we’ve given you any updates.... wow what a year it’s been for the rescue and in fact for everyone...
Jenny and Margo now In a new location with their friends and herd.
We’re not sure they’d met sheep before and we’re not sure who was more confused by who!!!!

Well we’re still waiting patiently to see if either of our girls will be popping out a baby donkey a time soon 🤷‍♀️ ... we’re convinced Jenny has a little one growing... but only time will tell!!!
Don’t worry you guys will be the first to know if and when one arrives!!! 💖💖💖

Today we had the farrier and the vet out to sort teeth and toes... both girls were sedated for it... Margo’s hooves and teeth were in a terrible state and Jenny’s teeth even worse... Jenny finally had her ear tag out and her microchip in ... so all sorted for another month until they’ll need their hooves doing again to try and get them a decent shape... 💖💖🦄🦄💖💖

What a day for the girls... first of all Jen managed to get a head collar on Margo and actually took her out for a walk... closely followed by Jenny!!!! Farrier is now booked for next week along with our vet to sedate them as their feet are in terrible condition 😢
Then lovely Simone and her girls turned up and fed them carrots and cuddles 💖💖💖
And the sun shone ☀️☀️☀️

Jenny and Margo just love visitors especially when they come with carrots 😁🤩😍
A break in the Christmas holiday madness for Milly and Lacey yesterday when they came and met the ladies with their mum Kelly... who said what a calming effect the donkeys had on everyone.... they are so gentle and relaxed 💖

Jenny and Margo... saved from a life of dealers and endless pregnancies ... never to be moved on or sold again and in fact never to be put in foal again...
Lots of people asking if they can sponsor or help and of course the answer is yes... we are asking for £5 a month to sponsor a donkey... what does this include... it includes donkey hugs and visits to see them (obviously pre arranged) we did think about keyrings or photos or magnets but really we’d rather spend the monies on them... but you’re welcome to come and have photos taken with them 🙂
Each visit requires you to bring carrots 🥕🥕🥕 because they need to feel its beneficial to them too....
Every penny every month will be accounted for and if we have excess then it’ll go towards vet bills and farrier costs...

Today we did a little donkey shopping..... soft purple headcollars for them... haynets for their hay and straw and their own feed buckets for their bag of donkey feed 💖 they weren’t overly impressed with the feed tho 😂🙈🤷‍♀️ I think maybe they wanted more 🥕🥕🥕 in it!!!

There’s nothing more lovely than listening to the munching of hay.... good morning from Jenny and Margo 💖💖💖
Did you know that donkeys diets should actually consist of 90 % straw? So they get an armful of hay twice a day but have access to straw all day long as they need to gain some condition....
Jenny is used to wearing a head collar but plants herself when you have it on her so we’ll be working on her to get her moving so they can go out in the paddock on dry/sunny days.... Margo really doesn’t want to be caught at all and so again this is something we’ll be gently working on over the next few weeks.... she is desperate for her hooves to be sorted out by our farrier although it’s going to take a good few months probably a year to get them straight again 😢...
But the girls are relaxed and happy as you can see.... and trust isn’t something you can hurry....
Tomorrow we’ll be posting details on how you can sponsor a donkey with us... and as usual all sponsor monies go directly on the care of the donkeys (dogs) not into some ones wages or anything else... just for the donkeys 🦄🦄

Good morning from the girls 💖💖🦄🦄
Both really settling in well and loving their visitors 😍
Margo’s hooves really need some attention and our lovely farrier will start to sort them out for her... and we need to gently get Jenny’s sticker off her rump 🙏
Hoping to get them out in the paddock tomorrow to stretch their legs as long as it’s dry 🙏😃
Donkeys aren’t actually waterproof like horses and ponies so they either need rugs on when it rains or they need a shelter in their field...
So our first fundraiser we will be doing for them is for a mobile field shelter which will cost around £700-£800 so any fundraising ideas are welcome!!!

Welcome Margo and Jenny to our sanctuary where you’ll never be put through another sale ring and auctioned off to the highest bidder... you’ll never be put in foal again to make money off you and you’ll stay with us for the rest of your life not being manhandled on and off trailers and lorries and moved from one strange home to another...

These photos were taken when we collected them this afternoon... we will post some more tomorrow morning when it’s light....

Margo and Jenny have unfortunately been running with a Jack (an entire Male donkey) so may be in foal... we hope that they’re not, one because Jenny is 15 and two because there are enough unwanted donkeys in this world without adding to the population... however if they are in foal the foals will stay with us too and not be sold on obviously....

Margo came over from Ireland and we’re not entirely sure where Jenny originated from....she has a tag in her ear instead of a microchip (because microchipping wasn’t compulsory When she was younger and no one has cared enough about her since to have it taken out) this will be being removed and replaced with a microchip by our vet. Both these girls ended up together at the sales and then onto another dealer.... Jenny still has the glue on her rump from her auction lot number ...
