Our behaviorist Madelyn Duenez is a total pro. She’s patient, kind and has an intuition for dogs that’s rare as can be.

Here she is working with Marble, a min pin who has little to no social skills. For his training she let him approach the pack on his own terms. With that tactic she build trust and confidence.

Madelyn is known to take on dogs with bite histories that other trainers turn away. She says the reward of a happy is always worth the work.

We are so thankful for all the love she gives to dogs in our Good Vibes family.

Having this kind of trouble in your home? Well Xena certainly is cute and knows her commands she still likes to break her boundaries.

How to fix this problem? Its all in the little moments folks.

If your dog is struggling with ANY behavioral issue like jumping, mouthing, pawing at your, demand barking whatever it is there’s an easy path forward. It just takes be aware.

When you get up to walk to the fridge give your dog a hand signal to indicate attention. If you’ve condition them to give you eye contact then this wont be a problem.

Let the dog know of your boundary and talk forward to your destination.

Same goes for doors and behaviors around furniture. Take that second to ask for eye contact, take a breath and release them.

Little things equate to large victories! DM me if you have any questions!

Do you let your dog on the couch and bed?

If the answer is yes they have to have zero behavioral issues. And I mean ZERO!

What is a behavioral issue you ask?

* potty issues
* chewing
* demand barking
* excessive jumping
* separation anxiety (this is the big one)
* resource guarding

All of that is a big no no for dogs who are still learning and adjusting! Trust your instincts trust the process and remember if you’re dog has a proper enrichment diet crate time is chill time.

This is Napa a one year old Red English Labrador shopping at Lush.

Never underestimate the power of social skills in dogs. It goes without saying that dogs are in fact social creatures so getting experience around a myriad of settings, people and places will only ensure your dog will know what to do in each situation you put in front of them.

Here are a list of places in Houston you can take your dog to practice!

* Eureka Heights Brewery

* Vinal Edge Records

* Hobby Lobby

* Lowes

* Home Depot

* The Burger Joint

DM for more tips, or places to visit with your dog!

Take a moment aftet training your dog to celebrate and appreciate the hard work they have accomplished.

This is Fiona a boxer puppy we worked with in Summer of 2021. In this lesson we worked on recall at a local park. After finishing I encouraged Fiona to relax and enjoy her surroundings while praising her for hard work.

Remember to stop, look and listen often with your dog and let them smell the roses after a hard day’s work!

Any dog can learn focus and recall if you take the steps and don’t overwhelm yourself or your dog.

This is Calvin, my 7 year old boxer mix. He was a street dog and would roam and drink from puddles any chance he would get. Over the years I built up a communication of nose, eyes and ears meaning…first engage your dog’s nose to get their attention, then solidify eye contact followed by calling their name, or voicing the command. Remember say it only once and confidently. This sweet dog has come along way with consistent leadership .

Any pet parent can be a great leader!

So happy to witness the work she put in today with a client on the rules of slip leashes and proper public boundaries.

SOUND ON: Radley is an amazing dog. He’s happy, attentive and willing to work. While I work with him this week we will be working on accountability and not letting him off the hook on his basic obedience.

What I am briefly teaching him are a refresh of puppy pushups with a release word. The added inflection is how I show the distinction in his “release” word. Remember give your pups the time to react before you repeat the command.

Great start now off to the park!

This may not look like much, but getting your young dogs aware of their surrounding and desensitized to stimuli in moderate areas can be life changing for a dog.

Fiona is a 7 month old boxer who is confident inside, but just isn’t too sure about the outside world. My goal is to set her up with stimulation and guide her to making decisions that can move her through this fear stage. Very proud of her.
