Panels: Wool flocked. Front of the panel has a shoulder free concept. This unique sculpted panel over the shoulders allows maximum freedom of movement while retaining ample weight bearing surface area along the spine.
This saddle is ideal for short backed horses, due to the design of the panels. They feature a half-moon cut out which will not interfere with the horse's shoulder. A special insert has been strategically placed on the sweat flaps under the rider's leg. The front billets are secured to the saddle with heavy-duty elastic, which expands and contracts with the horse. The rear billets are attached using a “V” shaped nylon system that stabilizes the saddle on the back of the horse.

Comes with: Prestige cover

The classic summer mix of rain, warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine can quickly cause a pasture flurry in the matter of just a few days! So, it is very important after such spells, that we take extra care and vigilance on our horses who are more vulnerable to high sugar diets ☀️

Did you know that the actual time of day can have an effect on pasture sugar levels?

As light intensity increases, so does a plants photosynthetic rate, which produces sugars, right up until several hours after sunset. It often isn't until the depths of the night that the plant has processed its photosynthetic goods, and returned to its baseline level, ready for the next day of sunlight. This means that the early morning period can be the most favourable time for low sugar grazing.

If you have concerns about your ponies consumption, sugar levels or nutrition, you can reach out to our team at [email protected]

I wish more people would take this seriously! Please don't cut their whiskers. They are like cats whiskers. They help them feel and perseve their environment.

The Effect of a Nervous Human.... one of my favorite studies!

Researchers at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences looked at the effect of an increased heart rate in a human on the horse they were riding or handling.

Here's a link from the abstract... "Each horse–human pair walked or rode between points A and B (30 m) four times on each test occasion.

However, just before the fourth pass, participants were told that an umbrella⛱ would be opened as they rode, or led, the horse past the assistant.

The umbrella was not opened, so this pass was no different to the previous control occasions, but nevertheless there was an increase in HR for both the person AND the horse."

We affect our horses.

When looking at any training "issue", our first responsibility is to to know ourselves and explore if there's something we could do better.

Here's a link to the research article, unfortunately I couldn't find a full text version easily available online, but you can read the rest of the abstract here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S109002330900121X?via%3Dihub

Do you have a plan for your horse’s unexpected medical expenses? (Read, for example: can you afford colic surgery if it comes to it?)

Whether a horse is purchased for personal or business reasons, horse ownership represents a significant investment of time, money and resources. While nothing may easy the emotional burden, wise planning can at least help reduce the economic impacts should something happen to your precious companion.

There are many types of coverage available to the horse owner and the conditions can vary widely between companies. Common types of coverage available for horses are listed (but not limited to what you see) in the graphic. Some equine insurers may require an insurance examination certificate signed by a veterinarian before a policy will be issued for a horse, however that does not mean your veterinarian can attest for the insurability of the animal — your veterinarian can only respond to questions of which he or she has direct knowledge, reporting the medical facts to the best of his or her ability.

Regardless of the circumstances, never ask or expect your veterinarian to report a claim to the insurance company or to be an expert with regards to your insurance policy. This is your responsibility as the owner and if you have questions regarding your policy be sure to ask your insurance agent!

Exactly! Say it again for those in the back. Alfalfa does not make your horses hot!

Although protein is normally listed as a nutrient, horses actually have a requirement for amino acids, the building blocks of protein, rather than for protein itself.

Protein is the least efficient energy source for your horse, so high protein does not automatically equal high energy. Carbohydrates, fats, and fiber are more readily digestible energy sources, so chances are a horse with too much energy is being fed more calories than the animal truly needs.

As always, remember that all horses have different nutritional needs based on age, stage of development, metabolism and workload. Be sure to work with your veterinarian to determine the correct protein and energy requirements for your equine friend based on your horse’s individual situation!
