With that pepper says it's time to go to bed.
Fun fact about Heatley! Everyone since I've known him he has always used my pants to dry his mouth after drinking water! They are only so good about me taking care of there ears, eyes, paws ect because there pet parents keep up with everything so well!
I made sure from day one to work with them to get comfortable with me doing those things. That way if anything ever happened they wouldn't think anything about it!
When you have such a big helper! Cizzo was always helping when I stayed with them!!
Cizzo now brings me my wallet, jacket, shoes, pillow&bag. He's so smart!
I treat every situation differently. Sometimes I use the baby voice. The high pitched voice. Sometimes I don't say anything at all. Ignore and continue with my business. At this stage it's important to acknowledge Jimmy. Give him that comfort and let him know he is safe. Let him come out of his saftey zone but let him go back when he feels he's had enough or is over stimulated.
Henery has been doing great but I still keep a eye on that body language and wait for alot of his cues.
It always makes my day to see all 4 of them. Maggie may did not like my new boot. The smells were gone. So I hid treats in them for her and by the end of yeasterday it had all kinds of smells and she liked it again. These pups always make my day.
Jimmy actually coming out and taking treats again.
Oh my goodness. I am so proud of all of my dogs. However Jimmy. Today is a rough day for me and you completly made my day.
Look how far Hondo has come. With the work of his owners and me teaching him some patience and watch me. He is finally not shoving me to get to peppers treats. I'll take my small victories. Just the way he looks at me. He just wants to make me happy..and get the high value freeze dried treats. :-) I just can't with those eyes!
What a busy weekend. So was last weekend. I need to post some updates. However first I attended an event hosted by Protecting K9 Heroes . On Friday Oct 18th they had Bash for the blue and camo 2. This was my 2nd year attending. It was bigger than last year. 700 people in attendance. Over 60 handlers with K9s.
What an amazing evening! My sister and Neice also attended . I saw old friends and met new friends. We laughed, cried and made some wonderful memories.
For me to especially have my 12 year old neice in attedance. She listened to every speech and was very moved by the handlers loosing there partners. To the point where she wanted to get up and make a speech. She has watched me make a donation so a k9 could be protected with a vest&trauma kit.
We have been going to there events and donating for years. She got to see exactly what they do and where our money goes. She also got to see where my donations that directly go to k9 departments go. My bond with some of the local k9s and the handlers.
A few of the dogs were looking for cuddles and a few for toys. It takes a village to make everything come together and that night one doner made sure 35 dogs would be vested.
Departments have to pay for there k9 training programs, vests, toys, ect. Which is why these events are so important. Why I work so hard. Loosing my best friend and his k9 officer in 2013 by a drunk driver was one of the hardest things. Finding out that I could give back helped.
When I moved to Indiana I discovered so many amazing k9 teams that just needed a little help. Protecting heroes always helped with vet bills, the vests and other costs.
I wanted to also directly donate to the departments along with the toys i have been providing. I really appreciate everyone's support through this. Our dogs are family! Here is a short video from our night.
I got to see my Great Pyrenees yeasterday. I've learned to always read body language even when a dog is wagging it's tail. Always praise and treat. Especially when you have a food motivated dog. If you have a toy motivated dog use a toy. If there is a sound they do not like use praise get them excited. That way when they hear the sound they associate it with good things not bad things. This was the first time Maggie may gave me her paw. Upon arrival she was leaning and wanting all the cuddles. It's different when i Ieave.
