This sweet boy is Razz. He came to us Monday morning after being found in a box with a blanket outside a gas station. A compassionate customer spotted him in the open box, freezing cold and not willing to move. She alerted a worker who said they were going to leave him there, they appeared not to know anything about him or how he ended up there. Thankfully Daralyn took it upon herself to ensure the kitten received care and without giving it a second thought, she scooped him up and her young daughter held him while she drove him to us for help. We were hopeful at first that the extreme cold had only caused mild hypothermia and that with some TCL, he would recover. He has been eating, drinking and going to the bathroom however his mobility is still not okay. He is off to Bear Creek Animal Clinic this morning for more in-depth examine to hopefully give us some answers and a path to move forward.

Daralyn and her daughter had so much love for and heartfelt emotions for this little guy they just met and saved. We are so grateful for them taking the time to get him to safety.

As winter arrives and temperatures drop, remember that some dogs are bred to be outside in cold weather. Heavy-coated northern dogs like huskies, malamutes, Great Pyrenees, Newfoundlands, and Bernese mountain dogs are bred to stay outside all winter and frequently prefer to be outside even in bitterly cold temperatures – often to their owners’ dismay. If you see a dog with a full coat outside this winter, they are probably perfectly happy. There is no need to call us unless they are visibly shivering.
