It is with a very heavy heart that I am making this announcement but we will be taking a permanent breeding hiatus until further notice 😞 I truly love rats and working with them but it’s just gotten to be a bit too much for me to handle, I’ve lost the spark from breeding and it saddens me very much. Most of the rats will just live out the rest of their lives but I may keep one line going, maybe we will see how it goes. I’m hoping with just one line I will get that enjoyment back but I won’t make any promises. I thank you all for being there along the way and showing the sweet rats we produce what a good home is! Picture of one of our dogs, Nisha, for tax.

We have some very exciting news! Elle x Kaipo’s pairing left us with seven DP Pearl rats!! I’ve been slowly working with this line to produce calmer Pearl rats and I believe they will be ready for pet homes once they turn 12 weeks old. They’re currently 3.1 weeks old. We will be keeping back 2.2 from this litter and the rest will be available for pets on April 8, I will be going through our waiting list and messaging those of you who have been waiting.

Elle had 12 babies sometime last night or possibly this morning! She was outcrossed once again to Kaipo, a Silver Russian Dove son of Nalani and Zambada. We were going to keep line breeding but I backed us into a corner with keeping all Rex males. It would’nt have been a horrible thing and I have nothing against them but I personally don’t want Double Rex in our breeding programs. Due to this outcross they may be offered as pets at 12 weeks old with a lower price so long as they turn out sound in temperament as I know health wise they are great. This is originally from our Pearl/Hairless line that we’ve had for 5 generations now so I expect them to be pretty good. Stay tuned!

Unfortunately the other two litters we were expecting didn’t happen, they turned out not to be pregnant but that’s okay. It gives me more mental energy to keep an eye on our current litter and ensure they will be a great addition to someone’s family.

In other news, a male from Suzi’s line turned out to have HA after we bred him, luckily that breeding didn’t take. Hormonal aggression is not to be taken lightly, rats can do a lot of damage when they bite so he was hard culled. It’s a sad thing but once they get to that point they don’t have a good outlook, he wasn’t able to be kept with his cage mates and as many of you know, a lonely rat isn’t a happy rat. He was constantly on edge with both humans and rats. It is possible to outbreed HA from a line but it takes a lot of time and work to ensure this, but I’m not comfortable ensuring it when it’s been shown so apparently in that line and I don’t want to chance it popping up again. Due to this I am discontinuing Suzi’s line, Erina’s line will be kept a very close eye since they are sisters but so far none of her lines have shown any aggression. Erina’s line will not be available for at least 5 generations once again to confirm no HA is present. If it is then that line will also be discontinued.

Thank you all for being so patient! I know I haven’t done much updating due to not breeding lately but I just wanted to let you all know that I did pair up our Russian line with Nalani and Zambada but she only had two babies on December 5, both are males but I don’t think it would be wise to rehome them as they haven’t been raised around rats of their own age for social skills.
But in other news we have 3 litters due for our newer lines this month! They will be kept back for 12 weeks to determine if they are fit for pet homes first and foremost, regardless if they are or not we will keep a few back from each litter to further the lines.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to apologize for the lack of updates. I’ve been dealing with some personal health issues and unintentionally took a sudden hiatus from breeding, but we will be back soon!

Although I do have an exciting update on our experimental line! Suzi (cinnamon berkshire unknown coat type) and Ukogi (agouti unknown coat type) were paired before the hiatus to test to see if we were working on Rex or Velveteen and if I’m not mistaken we are working with both! Here in this first picture we have two of her daughters, they are believed to be Rex. Turns out we are also working with Siamese with this line as well. Second picture is a female Velveteen Siamese, and thirdly we have three Siamese males from left to right: Velveteen, Rex, Standard. Temperament wise they are making great progress and will possibly be ready for pet quality in the next two generations, so long as no health problems arise of course (knock on wood).

Now for Holly’s side of things (Suzi’s sister, cinnamon variegated standard), her litter seems to be a bit better in terms of temperament so they should be ready next generation. She was paired with Ukogi and if I’m not mistaken, the other half of her litter was Velveteen. In which case, Suzi is a Rex while Ukogi is Velveteen! In the fourth picture is her only daughter, Laila, a black dumbo standard. She will be kept back to further the line.

Lastly, we have the four ratties we kept back from Pablo x Chubb’s litter. The fifth picture is of their two daughters from left to right: Belle (standard black berkshire) and Elle (rex black berkshire). And in the sixth and last picture is their two sons, Aidan (mink hooded rex dumbo) and Hayden (american blue hooded rex dumbo).

Hey guys, here’s an update on the Pablo x Chubb’s litter. They turned 12 weeks old on Sunday so we made our final decision on wether or not they were pet quality. Unfortunately, they turned out to be a lot more skittish then expected. A few of them were drama queens (squeaking when you barely grabbed them), all of them basically would dig their nails in to you due to fear among other things, which would of course be the last thing I would offer you guys. We are keeping back 2.2 of the best tempered to of course further the line and hopefully be able to offer them as pets once they’re up to par one day so stay tuned!

Experimental Line Update:

We paired up Suzi and Holly (first picture from left to right) with Ukogi on July 9 and 11! We expect babies around July 30 and August 1. Yes, they are siblings but that is the quickest way to bring up both the bad and the good points in a new line. Of course, these babies will not be available for pet homes as this line is still very skittish.

The rat room as of July 6! We got two new used double critter nations to add with the others, I’m super excited to decorate them even more 🤪 our zebra finches cage is temporarily inside the room as well as you can see in the top left corner, and yes the air purifier in the corner of the room is in huge need of cleaning again lol

Matcha x Zambada New/Experimental Line: 13.4 Weeks Old

And here are the 2 male holdbacks! Unfortunately, none of the smooth/standard coated boys seemed to have had very good temperaments, so we kept the better unknown coat ones instead. We will be doubling up on the unknown costs to see once and for all if they are Rex or Velveteen. Stay tuned for the next litter for this new line 👌🏼

Matcha x Zambada New/Experimental Line Update: 13.4 Weeks Old

After much observing and temperament evaluating, we are proud to introduce the 3 new girls! It was very difficult deciding on them, the original plan was to keep just two girls but two of them seemed very similar in a good way so here we are lol names have not been decided yet.

This is a prime example of why you gotta take caution with plastic base cages! We have 2 like this one and we were using it for a few of the boys from Matcha and Zambada’s litter, I kept an eye on it and patched up the place they started chewing but within a few hours they managed to get out anyways. Luckily everyone was close by and we caught them no problem. Planning to buy another double critter nation soon so that won’t happen again though lol we won’t be taking anymore chances.
