Incredible India- Barbaric, Savage & Cruel With Elephants Elephants and that is all elephants suffer in India, a land which despite their claims has neither respect nor compassion for elephants

The reverence for elephants in Kerala is as fake as the tusks this poor elephant is forced to wear. India is a hotbed of elephant abuse and nowhere more so than Kerala!

***An elephant rescue that is a torrid tale of heroics, abuse, neglect, vanity, and questionable decisions!***
This 55 year old mother elephant ‘Pratima’ was abused and neglected by the sons of her owner after the owner contracted cancer.
Heroic Residents of Tripura, Kuntala Sinha & Paramita Sen petitioned the High Court of Tripura to have the elephant and her calf removed from her dire situation
An excerpt from the petition –
“Petitioner found that the elephant was pregnant with an unweaned calf at Chinibagan area. She was being driven by the mahout in an inhuman manner. She had injuries, wound, and abscess all over her body which were left untreated for long. Both her hind legs got bent and there was a huge lump on front left leg of that elephant. There was a big wound on the left portion of her abdomen area which was discharging pus. She further came to know that the elephant has been subjected to cruelty in different manners by its owner. The breeding of the elephant has been done illegally for a long period and she has given birth of about six calves in total. She is also pregnant at present. The owner was keeping the elephant without licence . The unweaned calf was also subjected to cruelty.”
Vets from the controversial Ambani Zoo became involved in treating the elephant and wanted to move mother and calf some 3200 miles away to Vantara (The Ambani Zoo) despite the elephant being very poorly and weather temperatures raging!
In the end an 55 year old elephant in a grave condition was made to undergo a 3200 KM journey in soaring temperatures in cramped conditions on the back of an open truck with her calf ….little wonder that she is now said to be close to death!
▪️ Why was this elephant not treated & stabilised closer to home before travelling❓❓
▪️ Why are all elephants being sent to the Ambani Zoo which has no transparency, questionable motives and has controversially been accused of involvement in wildlife smuggling ❓❓
▪️ And lastly why are the elephant owners not being punished for allowing this to occur in the first place❓❓
N.B Animal rights organisation PETA are posting about this ‘rescue’ appearing to claim credit for themselves despite local activists claiming they played no role! If PETA are involved perhaps they can explain why these elephants were subjected to what can only be described as a torturous and unnecessary journey in an unsuitable vehicle❓❓

A savagery that extends to people as well as elephants and is largely ignored by hapless & corrupt Indian authorities

In March 2020, Preethi Sreevalsan, animal welfare activist and founder of Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), based in Thrissur, and Sally Varma, Honorary Animal Welfare Officer, Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), encountered Kalidasan, a celebrity tusker, who was chained on the temple gro...

When this elephant was beaten at the so called ‘rejuvenation camp’ the mahout was sacked & punished.
👉NOW elephant Jeymalyatha is being subjected to further abuse at the hands of the new mahout.
The Srivilliputhur Nachiyar Thirukovil temple has kept Jeymalyatha illegally for more than a decade, as she was never returned to the Assam forest department after her six-month lease expired
This illegally kept elephant MUST now be removed and afforded sanctuary!
⚠️ACTION Please RT Tweets from and send this easy email on behalf of Jeymalyatha - https://secure.petaindia.com/page/111254/action/1?utm_source=PETA%20IN::Twitter&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=0822::wld::PETA%20IN::Twitter::URGENT%20Help%20Us%20Rescue%20Bullied%20Elephant%20Jeymalyatha::::pads

The most jarring memory that the Wildlife SOS team has of Rosie is the image of her feet cruelly bound in spiked chains. Though she is now free of these chains, imprints made by the metal spikes are vividly visible on her swollen ankles. In addition to that, Rosie’s body bears several wounds that have been infected due to improper tethering and unhygienic conditions. Rosie’s previous owners were unable to provide her with ample nourishment or medical care. The neglect has had a tremendous impact on Rosie’s health; An impact Wildlife SOS is determined to manage.

To begin providing Rosie with the care she needs, our veterinary team conducted an initial health examination of Rosie. They found that she suffered from malnutrition, bullhook injuries, overgrown toenails, lesions on her footpads etc. They are currently working to evaluate her condition and get more in-depth information on her health, and to create a proper treatment plan. We shall keep everyone updated once we find out more about her condition.

Look at the state of this poor elephant! Every step he takes must cause excruciating pain 😔😔 How can any person ignore this suffering? What happened to mans humanity in Kerala? What happened to common decency and morals? The people that have colluded to allow this to happen are vermin, a scourge on both Kerala and India
