Poodle

Did you know that this iconic poodle cut originated in Germany where the standard poodle originated?They were bred for water fowl hunting and the cut was thought to make the dogs faster at swimming while also keeping all the vital organs and joints warm. ( while here at Bark Hill we have mini poodles, alot of the history comes from the standard version )

Breed of the month history:

Cocker Spaniel

This breed is found as far back as the 14th century. Originating in Spain, they were breed for field hunting of a bird called a cockwood. They would not only flush the game bird out but fetch it back to the hunter. Being very smart and willing to work with their owners made them a very easy dog to train to hunt and a great hunting companion.
