Apart from the obvious advice to have lots of fresh water available (I change my clients’ twice daily in hot weather):

Do consider putting down damp towels to help keep your pusscats cool. They may not use them… they are cats after all!

Remember that light coloured ears will burn easily, and this can precipitate skin cancers (as with humans). Consider applying sunblock if your puss insists on being out in bright sunlight.

Paw pads can burn easily. This is perhaps better highlighted with dogs, but bear it in mind for cats too.

Make yourselves aware of the symptoms of heat stress / heatstroke. Check with your vet or Google can be your friend with helpful advice.

Hello everyone. Hope your pusscats are keeping cool and serene at the moment. Please do keep an eye on their water bowls: ensure they have fresh, clean drinking water, even if a watering can is the preferred source!
In these hot days, I always change my clients’ water twice daily (unless they have the luxury of a fountain…). Cats can suffer greatly from heat stress, but don’t always show it. This is yet another advantage of keeping your cats in their own home: they know their cool retreats and can relax without stress..

Please, THINK before you let your friends outside in these unusual British temperatures. We wear sandals, use sunscreen, sup water on tap. They need us to anticipate the equivalent needs for them.

I’m really enjoying visiting all my summer clients! Thank you for your custom.

I’d just like to remind you all that wasps and flies, also bees, are prevalent at this time, especially if you have ripening fruit nearby. Apart from fly eggs on wet food (🥴🤢), please be mindful of wasp stings from these colourful, buzzy, fast- moving “playthings”.

Please, consult your vet if you think your cat may have been stung.
