Had an exciting time meeting with Global News to discuss pigeons. I was contacted by the lovely Miranda about doing a piece on the misunderstood pigeons. I was filled with joy that a person with just a public voice also loved this little ones. The editor who did this video also loves them so it was such a cool team!

Thanks so much!

This bathing beauty is getting all cleaned up. Why? Because she's ready for adoption!!!!!!!!!!
She has been in treatment for nearly a year and has had quite the time.

We almost lost her a few times.
She is currently learning how to eat on her own

She had severe neuro issues that we first thought was PMV however we then saw that she had severe bacterial infection
As only antibiotics was how the neuro issues went away..

She still cannot fly and needs a disabled support home.

Please reach out to me!
She loves being held
She loves to kiss and preen you.
She runs to you for bath time

Her life is sooo precious.

Hello pigeon advocates!
So I am seeing that there is a news article about the pigeon project. I'm a bit disappointed that I was not mentioned in it being as I was a big part of the whole thing.
When I spoke at the City of Toronto meeting for the feeding ban, I mentioned Dove Cotes and Ovo control and a more ethical way of reducing numbers rather than starving them. I spoke about how they needed us and I spoke about them being feral.
It was shortly after that, that Esther contacted me. She said she heard me and now felt she should do something about this.
So we had a phone meeting where I told her many things about pigeons!
She took that information and said she was going to see what she could do about ovo control.

She reached back out for us to have more meetings. This time with Orkin, Animals services as well as a wonderful man in the US named Erik who was also a pigeon expert. We spoke and Esther listened as we tried to figure out how best to do this in Toronto.

After that it was decided that I needed my volunteers to go around and find the best places for feeding stations.
I wanted the stations to be where the birds were being hit by cars, shot or poisoned. Unfortunately many places were not chosen.

We worked together on making flyers and I added fun pigeon facts as well as read over the other information to make sure no misinformation was in there. I also endorsed them.

My one request for all of my time was that my rescue, The Pigeon Nest. Would have some recognition for all the work we put into it.

As a rescue we need the support from our community and reading all the facts in this article, the facts she learned from myself without any mention of my rescue, or what inspired her. Or who helped her, seems quite unfortunate for my rescue. And a deep loss of acknowledgment from the community.

Rescues need support. They need media. And if they are the ones who started and formed a pigeon feeding pilot. They should definitely be acknowledged publicly.
