All of our puppies in training are practicing their duration on the place/bed command. This is especially challenging for such young dogs that have a lot of energy. But it’s essential obedience when you want your puppy to stay out of trouble while you’re cooking/cleaning or if you have another sick dog in the home and don’t want the puppy to bother the sick dog.

Happy Monday friends and family,
Just a quick update to let everyone know that pups are well! Thankfully there was hardly any thunder. Pups have been able to potty and have had breakfast. All training and outdoor activities were canceled because of the weather. Safety is always first! The worst of the rain is behind us. Wind barely left a few branches on the ground.

Just a quick note to share our storm plans.
1- First and foremost we have a cinder block structure that is sturdy.
2- Our roof complies with all wind mitigation requirements.
3- We take all necessary precautions to ensure pups are safe.
4- We have already walked and trained the pups before the grunt of the rain arrives so the dogs remain calm through thunder.
5- there are humans with the dogs 24/7 so they will never be alone.
As you will notice in the NOAA advisory the tropical storm Debby is expected to affect mainly west of us towards Tallahassee. If you have questions, please feel free to email or text us. If the day on Monday begins with heavy rain, Day Camp will be canceled. We appreciate all of you and are at your service!

One of the things are pups in training learn is how to respect thresholds. The must wait patiently at the door until given permission to go in or out. This is extremely important and can save your dog’s life from running out onto a busy street.

It’s not a Saturday night but some of our pups in training had bath and grooming session this morning! No, we don’t specialize in grooming, but we do teach dogs to remain still even when something isn’t fun! 🤣 As you can tell from their faces, they’re not too happy about the soap and suds and bath. But hey, they sure do love getting dirty when they play!

We sometimes have to take puppies to the vet to finish their vaccines. We use that visit to put obedience to practice. Rocky is such a handsome boy and looks even better when he follows rules! 😬

When we get puppies that are very young, we sometimes have to take them to the vet for their final shots. We use that visit to implement the little obedience they’ve learned thus far. The more neutral the vet experience is for the puppy the faster he grows accustomed to it.

Today we start our Indenpendence Day photos with our CEO Casper and some quick tips for a safe celebration with your pets.
1-walk them and exercise them early.
2-feed them dinner and give them water earlier than usual.
3-don’t leave them in the yard unattended or off leash at any moment
4-have the last potty break before the fireworks and loud explosions begin
5- put them inside in their crate or a safe space.
6-maybe turn on some classical music or another sound like a fan that can mask the fireworks
7-lights out early
8-some dogs even feel better with a slight sheet covering their crate.
9- Do not leave them alone. When afraid, dogs can manage to break out of a crate and can get severely hurt.

When we get messages and beautiful messages like these, it reminds us just how much our work helps change families and their relationship with their dog. This can only be achieved if the family continues to build on the foundation we establish with the dog. We’re so proud of Heidi and her family for continuing to build a strong bond and a relationship where all the human members of the family can become leaders for their dog!

Final group of pups hoping you had a great Memorial Day are our dogs up for adoption. Leading the pack is Becky… she will be given away to a deserving veteran to be a service dog. If you or anyone you know is a veteran in need of a service animal send us an in ox for further details. This also applies to first responders.
The rest of the dogs in this group are up for adoption but each applicant will be interviewed in order to see if you are a match for the dog’s specific needs.

Many people ask for advanced off leash for their dogs. But not every dog qualifies for this type of training. These two doggies are from the same family. They don’t live together but their owners are mother and daughter so the dogs do spend a lot of time together. And the mini Aussie, Bean was resorting to aggression against Dozer who is still a puppy. They came to our camp together so our trainers can evaluate what was triggering Bean’s aggression towards Dozer. Most of the aggressive dogs we get have fear based aggression. Also, has nothing to do with the severity of the aggression, whether it’s to humans or dogs. Bean is a mini Aussie that is afraid of other dogs and he’s learned to manage that fear by trying to bite. If you only need specific fine tuning of some issues with your pup, you can have them addressed as part of our day camp. Day camp is available for dogs without behavior issues, where they can socialize with well trained and balanced dogs, properly matched with your pups personality. In addition you can request one hour of training for an additional fee. When we have thunderstorms, which in Florida it’s just about every afternoon in the summer, we take advantage to train and desensitize fearful dogs like Heidi. We were also socializing Lyla who is a sweet old GSP, with some of our other senior dogs.
