It's Slasher fever again in the undisputed cockfighting center of the world as things heat up leading to the much-awaited 2014 World Slasher Cup-2 Invitational 8-Cock Derby set on June 2 - 8 at the historic Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Hosted by the Pinataksi of Champions with Univet Thunderbird, Sagupaan Complexor 3000, Supremo Feeds, B-Meg and Petron as sponsors, the 6-day event will again adopt a 2-2-4 format with two separate 2-cock eliminations on June 2 & 3; two separate 2-cock semis on June 4 & 5 followed by the 4-cock finals for entries with 2, 2.5 & 3 points on June 7 and capped with the 4-cock grand finals on June 8 amongst all undefeated bets with 3.5 or 4 points apiece.

As of May 12, 202 local and foreign participants have been listed with septuagenarian Ray Alexander of Alabama leading the powerhouse cast of American game fowl breeders who are determined to wrestle the crown from the home team after eight years of drought.

Atty. Jun Mendoza, who topped the Cong. Unabia one-day 6-cocker in Cagayan de Oro City and Barkadahan derby double champion Engr. Sonny Lagon are expected to continue the onslaught of the Filipinos who again dominated last January's edition via a solo victory by Vice Mayor Jubee Navarro.

Also signed up are 3-time WSC winners Rey Briones and Dicky Lim, Nene Abello, Atong Ang, Gerry Ramos, Patrick Antonio, Raymond Velayo, Mayor Jesry Palmares, Eddie Araneta, Nestor Vendivil, Biboy Enriquez, Gov. Ito Ynares, former WSC champ Vergil "Ali" Intino, Engr. Efren Canlas, Peping Ricafort, Wilbert LeBlanc & Richard Harris, Gov. Claude Bautista, Atty. Capuchino, Wilson Ong, Cong. Rudy Albano and Gov. Gerry Espina among others.
