On Friday afternoon, we were contacted about a bull terrier who was abandoned and left tied to a trash can with a very heavy chain in sweltering heat. The person who contacted us had seen a post about the bully being found. She had been in touch with the finder. The finder had contacted the local humane society to report the found bull terrier but said he wanted to keep him. He said that the dog had been scanned but wasn’t chipped. We had been in touch with the humane society and knew he hadn’t brought him in to be scanned. He then tried to sell the bull terrier to the woman who contacted us. The humane society ended up picking the bull terrier up and have since named him Bullseye. His stray hold passed by and he was not claimed. We had several people contact us with interest in bringing Bullseye home. One of those people is a local man named Preston. He has had 2 bull terriers previously and is retired from the police force after a very long career, with plenty of time to devote to Bullseye. We are hoping it will work out and things will turn from a foster situation to an adoption situation. We just are unsure at this time since we know very little about Bullseye. So far though, Bullseye seems to be a sweet, loving boy. For the time being, Preston will bring Bullseye home, let him decompress, start getting him the medical care he needs and try to slowly integrate Bullseye with his current dog. If Bullseye ends up not being okay with the resident dog, he will be kept separate but stay there for a little so that we can learn more about him and then start looking for the right home. We are thankful that individuals like Preston and the others who reached out, are willing to drop everything and make sure that Bullseye had a place to go. Preston and his daughter Lindsey went to the humane society this afternoon to get Bullseye and bring him home. As you can see, he has no reservations about relaxing for a belly rub with his new foster dad.
Special thanks to Alyssa for initially contacting us about Bullseye and wanting to make sure that he would be in the right hands, the staff at The Lehigh Valley Humane Society for taking care of Bullseye while there and Preston for bringing him home so he can be loved and taken care of.
