Today, we mourn the loss of Luca, a K-9 with the DeSoto County Sheriff's Department, who was killed in the line of duty during an officer-involved shooting incident.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his handler and the entire department during this time.

Luca was a true hero, and his bravery and service will never be forgotten.

"CLEAN & FRESH" is our motto! 🐶🐱

We would appreciate donations of bleach and disinfectant cleaner (spray or pump bottle) to help us sanitize the shelter, while also keeping it smelling fresh and clean. NOTE: Off brands are great, and can be purchased at less cost than brand names.

We are also in need of puppy pads (any size) for our med room and puppy kennels.

Update on the Twin Lakes! The letter attached was sent to the City from DWSD which stopped the Dog Park from being built on the property.

Last night at the Council Meeting, (09-19-2023) the City Manager stated that after speaking with the engineer that did the survey for the property there are NO RECORDED EASEMENTS on the property.

After a resident did a public records request about how many times the manhole overflowed on the property from 2019 to present (09-2023), here is the response:

“Thank you for your remittance of the Public Records Request. I have attached the one ByPass Report during 2019-Present, as requested. There was only one during the requested time period.”

No recorded easements and 1 (one) overflow since 2019!
