There has been some talk recently in groups about how Appaloosas could never compete at the Olympic level. These people simply don't know their history!

BROADCAST NEWS was a New Zealand bred Appaloosa gelding by Timel Tell, an imported racebred Appaloosa stallion and out of a TB mare. He was competed by Vicky Latta at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, winning a Team Bronze. The same horse shown by Mark Todd won the 1997 European Championship, and won a team gold and individual silver at the 1998 World Equestrian Games.

He may have not had spots, but he was still a part of our breed, and went to the highest level of competition, his solid coat allowing him to pass by 'undercover' with the TBs.

Our first ever Spotfest West Midland! Had an absolutely fabulous day. Lovely show, lovely people and a pleasure to be a part of. Thank you to everyone that worked so hard over the weekend to put on such a great day.
As always Darkstar Iluminati aka DaVinci was impeccably behaved all day. Jim did a wonderful job at showing him on grass for the first time ever! And it turns out nagging does work 😂. However i had to have a little smile to myself as i realised that once Jim stood him square for the judge after his trot up, and says thank you, he ALWAYS looks at me after, he knows whos really judging him 😂🥰
The colour Parade was amazing, to see all the different colour patterns in the ring at the same time was wonderful. must of been 30 horses in the ring and we bagged ourselves 1st in the nr leopard.

Yearling c**t, very pretty dainty little boy. Sweetest pretty head. And a really sweet kind outlook on life. Hes had a rough few weeks before coming to us and he hasn’t held a grudge. Been bathed, groomed and plaited up today and has took it all in his stride, stood like a saint. Loves a fuss. Will make a very nice little show pony type. Needs more handling but will get that while he’s living under our roof. He’s standing about 10:3hh so to make about 12:3hh

Yearling filly, leg in all four corners. Stands up for fun, it’s like she born to stand up in a show ring. She’s a little shy but I’m not surprised after her ordeal. But she is loving coming over for scratches and standing like a saint for photos today. Well grown for ages classes. To make a lovely 13hh. Has a really lovely kind eye and gentle nature.

Had a wonderful day at the British Appaloosa Northern 2024 show. Darkstar Illuminati was beyond foot perfect today. Standing in line with mares all around and behaving like such a gentleman throughout. Im so proud of how well he behaved over the weekend, he is such an easy laid back c**t.
Thank you to everyone who made it possible and for all your hard work. Lovely to see so many happy faces and beautiful horses. Congratulation to everyone today.

I'm really in love with this elegant little filly. She just oozes quality and charm. I just look at her and instantly see her older self strutting the show ring in a ridden coloured class. She's just going to be a privilege to watch grow into a stunning show prospect. To make approx. 16hh+ by 17hh WB Longacre's First Foundation. She's special, it will need to be a special home to convince me to part with her, but I cant keep them all and I've already retain a filly this year. Darkstar River Wild

Darkstar Mystic Moon to be retained as a future ridden prospect. a testament to her dams breeding. hopefully she is well on the way to being as big and beautiful as her mum. Looking forward to actually being able to entre a filly class for once, but with Secretariat breeding Jim will have to get his running shoes well and truly warmed up.

Hank The Tank, showing off some of his fancy moves. Brave as a lion, unfazed by all he's seen so far. Hard to photograph as he doesn't stop exploring at warp speed. The sweetest natured inquisitive foal. He certainly makes the criteria for a good medium weight working show hunter, with potential to event and hunt with his brave persona, he's taken in his dams hoof prints as shes the boldest bravest horse I've ever known

Finally here she is, just what we ordered. Long legged beautiful blanket spot filly. By Wearveiw Geronimo BApS and ApHC licenced stallion, out of Moondance Minuet who has some of the nicest Centaur breeding, and goes back to the infamous Secretariat. At one day old she towers over the other foals, so i think she's inherited her dams height and movement. We couldn't be more pleased with her.

A not so little Saturday surprise landed here at Darkstar yesterday night. 4 weeks earlier than planned, but this chunky chestnut c**t was in a hurry to make an appearance. Already fully cooked and practically fully unfolded, he decided he had enough of lying around and wanted to join the family. Up, fed and pooped in 20 mins. And gave a spicey buckeroo performance for poor Jim and Alfie as they tried there best to guide him into the foaling barn from the field. He Is a chunky long legged monkey with the absolute sweetest cuddly nature. His Dam Darkstar Summer Solstice is 16.1hh Draught x TB who is the kindest horse I've ever met. And sired by the one and only, Wearveiw Geronimo duel registered ApHC & BApS. Will be part bred registered/Passported with BApS, wormed, vaccinated and well handled. The size of him already I'm predicting a good 16.3hh as his back breeding on dams side is both 17hh and 17.1hh but we will see how he develops.
