" My horse has got a Full blaze and two white socks"... often heard this statement from many fellow breeders,while growing up with Horses..
made me wonder what has a Marking to do with a Good Horse.. We dont ride the marking !!!! ,were my childhood thoughts.
as time went past , going through the Indian horse bible " The Shalihotra" i did realised the marking does play some role based on mythology. The book does say something about, A Marking on the head preferably a blaze or un interrupted stripe with four white socks make a horse Panchkalyan.... was definitely a unique marking in 80s and before that.
few more mentions of white marking in the book..
But does a Blaze signifies anything .. nothing there
as time went past,learning about other horses of the world and different Horse cultures, i realised Some just dont want any marking at all on thier horses .. some where i over heard "oh it keeps the head cool" ,goes the theory for a toss.
some western culture preferred a single coloured horse too much .. even in certain regions of India a single coloured horse was matter of Huge Pride.. state of Punjab and Harayana and some in UP very few of them..though breeders in Rajasthan n Gujrat still prefer some marking on the Forehead....
Me being a little exceptional one choose a Single Coloured Dark liver chestnut Marwari Stallion, based on his known Linage ,his amazing attitude and Conformation.. strong structure and joints. superb temperament and manners both at the breeding shed and under the saddle..
