Update on Corgi momma and puppy. We were able to pick her up at 1pm today. Sadly she is very bad condition at only 19 pounds she is very underweight. We noticed when we picked her up she was not walking very well and kept falling over. :( Thankfully we were able to get her into our vet and she has a torn ACL to her right rear leg that will need surgery repair. We have an estimate of $800 for the repair.
Her hips are also not in good condition. :( She has some narrowing and deterioration which will cause her issues over time. We will start her on glucosamine for support. She was also full of fleas and had hookworms which were sucking the blood right out of her. :(
She is now dewormed, flea free and on preventative, heartworm preventative (thankfully she was heartworm free), on a pain and anti-inflammatory because her knee and hips are causing her a lot of pain.
Her puppy, which we named Kiko, is healthy and his momma, Roxie, loves him very much. She is a great momma dog and even though she only has a small amount of milk she is making sure he stays fed and healthy. :)
We can not imagine what Roxie has been through, how much pain she has had to suffer, how she had to have lost the rest of her puppies but still continues to care for remaining pup and even after all that she remains very sweet and friendly. We are estimating at least $1,000 for our initial estimate of what we will need to fundraise for our momma dog and puppy so if anyone would like to make a donation towards her care please do so.
As many know we rely on donations to help animals like Roxie and with the public's help we saved 932 animals last year. We welcome Roxie and Kiko as #7 & #8 saves of 2017, welcome to safety sweetheart and baby, you are in great hands now!
