Celebrating the Heart of Our Hospital

This week at VCA Colonial Animal Hospital, we had the honor of celebrating our incredible Client Service, Administrative, and Medical Records team—the people who keep everything (and everyone) connected.

From the very first “hello” to the final goodbye, they are the steady, compassionate presence behind every visit. They answer your calls, guide you through difficult moments, keep communication flowing, and make sure every detail is handled with care.

They are the first and last hug of every visit.

This week, we showered them with appreciation, small tokens of gratitude, and of course—some delicious food—but the truth is, a single week could never fully reflect how much they mean to us.

To our team:

Thank you for your kindness, your patience, your dedication, and your heart. We hope you felt just how valued you are—not only this week, but every single day.

To our clients and community:

When you walk through our doors or call our hospital, these are the amazing individuals supporting you and your pets every step of the way. We are so grateful for them—and for the trust you place in all of us.

Please join us in celebrating this incredible team! Drop a ❤️ or a kind word below if you would like to show your appreciation.

April is Pet First Aid Month!

Medical emergencies can happen suddenly and without warning, so it’s always best to be prepared. A pet first aid kit helps keep important items together in one place so you can respond quickly if your pet needs help.

Common pet emergencies can include:
🐾 Poison or toxin exposure
🐾 Wounds, burns, or broken bones
🐾 Snakebites or insect stings
🐾 Heatstroke
🐾 Seizures
🐾 Trouble breathing
🐾 Vomiting/diarrhea that is severe or ongoing
🐾 Collapse, weakness, or sudden pain

No one can be prepared for every emergency, but having the basics ready can make a big difference. If your pet is experiencing a severe emergency, please call your veterinarian or local emergency hospital as soon as possible.

Do you have a pet first aid kit at home?

Celebrating our Amazing Client Service, Medical Records and Administrative Team!

This week at VCA Colonial Animal Hospital, we’re shining a big, heartfelt spotlight on our amazing Client Service Representatives (CSRs), Medical Records and Administrative Team-- the true heartbeat of our hospital.

From the moment you call us to the moment you leave, our CSRs are there every step of the way — answering phones, scheduling appointments, welcoming families, supporting anxious clients, managing paperwork, and helping keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Their job is so much more than anyone can fit into one post. They are often the first friendly face you see, the calm voice on the phone, and the caring presence that helps both pets and people feel supported.

They juggle so much each day with grace, compassion, patience, and a true love for animals.
We are incredibly grateful for their dedication, kindness, and endless support. Thank you for being the glue that holds so much together and for the warmth and care you bring to our hospital every single day.

Help us celebrate them this week — leave a comment, share a kind word, or simply say thank you. They deserve it!
Thank you Guthrie, Jennifer Z, Jennifer W, Courtney, Ashley F, Ashley K, Julie, Kayla,Jasmine, Adam, Simone and Sue.

Do you know the signs of Lyme disease in pets?
Lyme disease is spread by infected ticks and can cause limping, lethargy, loss of appetite, and more. The good news? Prevention goes a long way.
Talk with your veterinarian about tick prevention and whether Lyme vaccination may be recommended for your pet. Early detection and treatment are important.

18/04/2026

April is both Lyme Disease Prevention Month and Heartworm Awareness Month — a great reminder that prevention matters.
Ticks and mosquitoes can put pets at risk for serious illness, but year-round prevention can help keep them protected. If your pet is due for preventives or you have questions about what they need, our team is happy to help.
Let’s keep your pets safe, healthy, and ready to enjoy spring.

15/04/2026

Spring cleaning is a great time to freshen up your home — and your pet’s space too.
Wash bedding, replace worn toys, keep cleaning products out of reach, and make sure window screens are secure. Small steps can make a big difference for pet safety.

A big heart in a big Lab

Meet Willard, a handsome almost 5 year old Chocolate Labrador Retriever who was referred to VCA Colonial Animal Hospital for removal of a mast cell tumor located in a challenging spot on his right hind foot.

Willard’s surgery went beautifully thanks to our Surgery team, but recovery required patience, teamwork, follow-up visits and bandage changes.

Our Colonial team worked closely with the wonderful staff at Fayetteville Veterinary Hospital along with Willard’s dedicated family who luckily have a very helpful family member who is a LVT to help guide his recovery every step of the way.

Through it all, Willard remained the sweet, gentle boy everyone fell in love with — and he made a special friend with Kalee, who helped care for him during his visits.

The best news of all?

Willard is doing great and back home where he belongs — now enjoying life with his family and his brand new human sibling. ❤️

Stories like Willard’s remind us that the best outcomes happen when families and veterinary teams work together for the pets we all love.

We hope your weekend is filled with Easter egg hunts, spring fun, and happy memories.
As you celebrate, don’t forget to keep pet safety in mind. Chocolate, candies, plastic grass, holiday plants, table scraps, and even hidden eggs in the yard can all pose risks for curious pets. And with spring in full swing, it’s also a good time to think about tick prevention and check pets carefully after outdoor adventures.
A little extra caution can help keep your dogs and cats safe this Easter weekend.
