Leo was more than just a dog; he was our best friend and a beloved part of our family. For eight years, he filled our lives with joy and love.
Leo went to Clemson with Dylan and Lacey, where he quickly became the life of the party, making new friends wherever he went. His friendly paw would tap you gently if you stopped petting him, a clear sign that he wasn’t done soaking up all the love he could get. Everyone who met Leo fell in love with him, and it’s no surprise—he had a way of making everyone feel like they were his best friend.
He had a special bond with each of us. His favorite moments were spent with Lacey on Cayuga Lake, either riding on the jet-ski or feeling the breeze while on the boat, his ears flapping in the wind. He was also Dylan’s “little buddy”, always eager for a game of tug-of-war, showing off his incredible strength. And when it came to his mom, he couldn’t get enough of those ear rubs, leaning in with complete trust and contentment.
He was happiest outdoors—sunbathing, running, or swimming, especially swimming. Water was his favorite, and he never missed a chance to dive in, whether it was at the lake or during his visit to the beach in South Carolina last year, which he absolutely loved.
But more than anything, Leo was gentle and sweet, especially with children. He had a kindness in him that was rare, always patient and loving, no matter the situation. He would sit at the base of Dad's recliner, looking up with those soulful eyes until he got the attention he craved.
We are deeply thankful to Dr. Bocek and the team at Day Hollow Animal Hospital for their tireless dedication to Leo's care. Their guidance led us to Dr. Merkhassine and the compassionate staff at Colonial, who supported us through Leo’s battle with liver disease. Losing him at such a young age has been incredibly painful, but the care and efforts of these wonderful people meant everything to us.
Leo’s spirit will forever be with us, in every sunbeam, every ripple of water, and every gentle breeze. He was our sweet little guy, and we will miss him more than words can express.
