2024 Solar Eclipse Pet Safety

Just a friendly reminder - during a solar eclipse, it's a good idea to keep your furry friends indoors. The sun's rays can be harmful to their eyes, and the sudden change in light might spook them. Many pets react to eclipses just like they do to fireworks or thunderstorms.

The Rotary Club of Sherwood is partnering with Outback Steakhouse to raise money for the scholarships that will be awarded to Sherwood students heading to college in the fall. This is a great deal and goes for a great cause. The tickets available are limited and are $17. Shoot me a message if you want to purchase some. I have tickets for Tuesday, March 12th or Thursday, March 14th.

A big congratulations to Sherwood Rotary Pet Club member Marilyn and her dog, Ginger, for completing and passing the A plus dog training class at . Ginger passed the obedience test and is now an AKC Canine Good Citizen!

One of the absolute best ways to ensure your pet gets back to you if they get lost is to microchip them! Collars and tags can get lost or broken. Microchips stay put! We are offering microchipping for only $10 dollars!! We will even help you register the chip before you leave! There’s absolutely no reason not to take advantage of this event- we hope to see you there!!

****ALERT!!!****

IT IS COLD OUTSIDE so we are offering our "Straw Voucher" program again this year. In partnership with Farmers' Association - Cabot AR., we are providing bales of straw to pets in need! NO RESIDENCY OR INCOME REQUIREMENTS!!!

Vouchers are available at the following locations at this time:

Farmer's Association-2691 AR-367, Cabot (M-S, 7:30-6pm)

Two bales of straw are allowed per voucher. If you don't need 2 bales, please don't be greedy. We want to ensure every outdoor pet has access to the straw, so please be kind and only take what you need. More locations will be added this afternoon!

**No negative comments about keeping your pets indoors. The bottom line is that some people can't, so let's move on and be productive.**

DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER AND THE CHANCE OF POOR ROAD CONDITIONS THIS THURSDAY, MORNING WELLNESS APPOINTMENTS SCHEDULED FOR THIS THURSDAY, JANUARY 18TH WILL BE DEFERRED TO NEXT THURSDAY MORNING (January 25th). APPOINTMENTS SCHEDULED AFTER 12:30 PM WILL STAND FOR THIS THURSDAY. WE WILL ATTEMPT TO CONTACT THE MORNING CLIENTS TO CONFIRM THEIR RESCHEDULED APPOINTMENTS.

Our next Pet Wellness clinic will be Thursday, January 18th from 8:30 am-4:30 pm, with Amy Hawley, DVM!

Celebrate the New Year by keeping your pets healthy, happy and HOME! Cats/Kittens and Dogs/Puppies are welcome. (For the safety of others, NO Aggressive Dogs, please! Cats Must come in carriers.)

Pet Wellness Clinics are more comprehensive care clinics to provide packages including wellness checks, basic vaccinations, testing and prevention for your pet and start from $35 for babies-$50 for adult dogs. Additional vaccinations and services such as microchipping and products for heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention can be added at check-in. These are NOT appointments for spay/neuter.
