Just ask your vet what their opinions are based on your lifestyle.
If your dog is a homebody that is basically an indoor dog, don’t over vaccinate on bordatella. If you don’t go hiking, don’t get the rattlesnake vaccine. If you tend to see more wildlife, make sure you’re monitoring their lepto and rabies boosters. People in dry climates aren’t as required to use heartworm prevention.
People in humid areas SHOULD be investing in heartworm prevention year round. You’re allowed to mix and match based on a dog’s age and lifestyle, it is not a set thing. The only thing that is set in stone is puppy vaccines, that is a nonnegotiable. Usually once you get past age 4-5 they have a built immune system and you can start tailoring to their needs. Especially with older dogs, if they don’t need it, don’t push it.

The intelligent, loyal, protective, and trainable qualities of a Doberman Pinscher make them an excellent pet. They are great at filling many different roles including a focused police dog, a loving family member, or even a loyal companion
Intelligent
The Doberman Pinscher is one of the smartest dog breeds in the world and has consistently scored highly on intelligence and obedience tests. Because of their intelligence, this breed thrives in environments where they have a job to do.
In order to avoid boredom, get your Doberman involved with obedience or agility sports. When a clever dog does not have activities to occupy himself, he may become destructive or aggressive. This desire to work makes him thrive in environments where he can learn new tasks. Since Dobermans are naturally a working dog, the Doberman Pinscher’s temperament is also well-suited for working with police officers, security guards, military personnel, or search and rescue teams.
Loyal
Compared to other dog breeds, the Doberman Pinscher is extremely loyal to their owners. They quickly become a trusted and important member of the family. Because of their loyalty, a Doberman thrives being in close contact with his loved ones, making him naturally protective. This breed can be trusted around their owner’s children, friends, and other guests if they are introduced proper

Doberman Pinscher Coat Color and Anatomy Guide
These are all the possible colors that Doberman Pinschers can come in. All Doberman colors, but white, also come with rust point markings and if the dog is to be shown the markings must be rust.
This is what the AKC allows to be shown in Dobermans:
Allowed Colors: Black, red, blue, and fawn (Isabella). Markings: Rust, sharply defined, appearing above each eye and on muzzle, throat and forechest, on all legs and feet, and below tail. White patch on chest, not exceeding ½ square inch, permissible.
Disqualifying Fault: Dogs not of an allowed color.
All the colors in this guide can be registered, but only the four listed can be allowed in dog shows.
These are all the colors and their type and code numbers for AKC registration:
Black & Rust S 015
Blue & Rust S 042
Fawn (Isabella) & Rust S 316
Red & Rust S 145
White D 199
Black & Tan A 018
Blue & Tan A 044
Brown & Rust A 302
Brown & Tan A 262
Fawn (Isabella) & Tan A 317
Red & Tan A 250
Tan Markings A 012
White Markings A 014
*the S stands for standard color; meaning the dog is allowed by AKC standard to be shown the A stands for alternate color; which cannot be shown, and the D stands for disqualifying color; meaning it is a fault and should not breed it and it cannot be shown.

Doberman Lifespan Research
A UK survey of Doberman mortality in 2010 managed to collect data about the lifespan of 100 Doberman dogs.
The median average lifespan of these pets was 10.5 years, and the longest living Doberman among them made it to a grand old age of 16.5.
A further dog mortality study performed in 2013 (also in the US) included 37 Dobermans. They enjoyed a median average lifespan of 9.2 years. The longest surviving Doberman in the study lived to 13 years old.
Why the difference?
The 2010 study relied on Doberman owners self-reporting on their dogs’ health and lifespan, whereas the 2013 study secured direct access to the veterinary clinics’ records.
Only 20% of the Doberman owners approached in 2010 returned the survey. Perhaps these owners were generally more conscientious about their dogs’ health in all respects.
This includes attending health checks and monitoring diet and exercise, as well as contributing to information requests from researchers for the benefit of all dogs.
Their dogs might have enjoyed the benefit of that diligence, and achieved longer average lifetimes as a result.
Average Doberman Lifespan
So with the numbers from these scientific studies, we can say that a good, close average lifespan for this breed is 9-11 years.
This lifespan can seem a little on the short side when compared with other breeds that can reach average lifespans of around 12-14 years, but it’s actually quite good for such a large dog.
But why is their lifespan around 9-11 years, and not longer?
Causes Of The Shorter Doberman Life Expectancy
Within the animal kingdom, large size usually signifies a longer lifespan.
As a very basic example, an elephant will live much longer than a sparrow. Of course, this is not a hard and fast rule; there are exceptions!

You could make an argument for this applying to the Doberman too. Standing at 24-28 inches tall, they are certainly a big dog, and their lifespan is slightly shorter than a lot of smaller dogs.
So what is it about large dogs that causes this effect?
Again, let’s look into the scientific research on the matter.

How to Care for Doberman Pinschers:
-
The Doberman Pinscher is a large, powerfully-built dog breed that originated in 19th century Germany. It seems that the Doberman was developed from breeds such as the Rottweiler, German Pinscher and the Black & Tan terrier to obtain a combination of strength, athleticism and tenacity. The breed was developed as a guard dog and this heritage is still evident today in their strong guarding instinct and territorial behavior.

1- and females Decide whether you like the temperament of a Doberman. The American Kennel Club (AKC) describes the temperament of the Doberman as energetic, determined, watchful, loyal, and fearless.

2- Understand the need for thorough and consistent training with a Doberman.

3- Decide whether your home and yard are big enough for a large dog. Being a large dog, and an athletic one at that, Dobermans need adequate space to move around.

4- Make a significant time commitment. You should be prepared to devote at least 2 hours a day to exercising your Doberman, an hour in the morning and again in the evening.

5- Calculate the cost of owning a Doberman. You should weigh the costs associated with keeping any large dog.

6- Understand what a full-grown Doberman will look like. The Doberman should stand around 24 - 28 inches tall at the shoulders, with males being taller than females.

Choosing a Doberman:

1- Decide between adopting an adult dog from a shelter or buying a puppy from a breeder. There are pros and cons to both. There are lots of dogs in shelters that need homes.

2- Choose your breeder carefully. Never, ever buy a puppy from a puppy mill. A cardinal signs of a puppy mill is the breeder makes an excuse as to why the mother dog is not available to view. This is because in reality the mother dogs is probably hundreds of miles away, waiting to be bred to produce yet more puppies.

3- Be aware how important socialization is. A good breeder will make sure to socialize his or her dogs in order to guarantee they grow into confident well-adjusted adult dogs. This is especially important for the Doberman, who can be prone to anxiety or territorial behavior.

4- Check the family history of a dog you are considering adopting. The Doberman is prone to a number of genetic health problems, some of which the parents can be tested for and some not. For example, Dobermans are prone to hip dysplasia and Von Willebrand's disease.
