Not only are the handlers working on their leash handling skill in this exercise, but the dogs are needing to work at a distance from the handlers as well. Well done Deb and Katie.

Tuesday’s Containers, Containers, Containers class today heard me say, “You all earned..” and they thought, ICE CREAM!!!
Sorry, I informed them, they had earned a leash handling exercise😁
The handlers needed to stay on the opposite side of the obstacle from their dog and not knock anything down😁 Yep, that seriously was my criteria. The rest of the handling to follow next week.
Here Jennifer and Ember did a real nice job.

Wednesday 1:30 was just Orla today. Fun tree bark hide and hide in metal tube under the sink. Orla is really coming along with starting to tell her handler about the hide instead of slapping it😁 The credit goes to her handler for working so hard on her timing. Nicely done!

Tuesday 10:00 Containers, Containers, Containers class in Lake Stevens. This was week 4 and WOW the progress these teams have made is incredible!
Containers can be a challenging element for teams. Bentley, Sting, Harper, and Ember demonstrate their container prowess here🤗 Next week we will be systematically working through distractors.🍒🥐🧀🥓🥦

The bathroom search was 1st. Lilly had to work from the front door of the small building back to the bathroom where the only hide was located. The 2nd search had the hide located on the trashcan on the way to the bathroom. Would Lilly use her memory or her nose? Lilly used her nose!!!!!beautifully and aced the hide! Never needing to return to the bathroom. Nice!!!!🤗

Border Collies, Chip and Sting, both young impressionable males, focused well in class today. Really nice searching as their handler’s trusted them and gave them lots of space to work.

Threshold hide! Rowan nailed it coming into the room. But, not all dogs will and though it looks cool and feels great when it happens, the most important thing is that the hide is found, right? Some dogs’ style is to go deep then return. Also note how “out of the picture” her handler is😁 giving Rown plenty of room to work things out.

Turkish and Kaylee searching at Legion Memorial Park yesterday evening. Fun to watch how both dogs had the wind in a different direction for them and how that definitely affected how they solved the problems.

Evening class doing some elevation. What I enjoy most about these photos, besides the fact the dogs are adorable, is the nice range of size being displayed. All the dogs completed the task quite nicely!!!!!
