So, it's that time, where the fish are taken off sale unfortunately. The temperature has dropped enough now and would be too much of a shock going from our in-store vats, to an outdoor pond, without being heated. Have you got all the necessary treatments in yet? Get your pond winter ready by popping by and grabbing the essentials.

All is not lost though.....you can still visit us at Maidenhead Aquatics at Hickstead to give them a feed ( indoor vats only, not our entrance pond ) and see what awaits the new season, if you haven't seen them already?! There will also be new stock coming next year, ready for when pond season starts again 🫢😁.

And with Christmas, not many weeks away now, have you thought about a gift card for the koi keeper you love? Pay for the voucher now, and use it next year when you have chosen something!

With the temperature being too cold to sell koi soon, how about a voucher for when the temperature rises, the other side of winter? So, koi keepers!

Do you want to start an indoor aquarium, if you don't have one already? With keeping koi, you already know about water chemistry to start with.

If you don't keep fish indoors, now is the time to start planning for it! All YOU need to do, is decide where to place your aquarium in your room. This position should be away from windows, direct sunlight, and radiators. Other than that, we can help with the rest!

It's not long till Santa will be on his way, dropping ( carefully placing ) aquariums under the tree. Pop by the store and ask about the do's and dont's for a good start to your fishkeeping hobby.

Hi everyone,

With the weekend nearly here, do you have any plans to add some more koi before it's too cold? We won't be selling for much longer, so come by and see what we have left! There are some real stunners in our vats! And some deals to be had too 😉

Maybe you need some wheatgerm, or some treatments? Remember, treatments won't always work below 10c, some below 12c, so don't leave it too late to protect your fish against any nasties that may be on them. If you would rather, you could go the pond salt route. Just as easy to add, as a liquid treatment is

Don't wait till your precious wet pets are in pain or sore, come by and pick up the essentials.

Grab a net too, so you can easily get those leaves that have fallen in to your pond before they rot and sink to the bottom.

To ensure conditions in the pond are optimal for your fish, check Carbonate hardness with a test kit and buffer if necessary. Rainfall and biological processes will diminish mineral content and most fish are happiest at values of 10dKh or above. A low dose of pond salt is also a good general tonic which bolsters the fish and suppresses any background parasites.
