It’s hard to believe Button & Emmy’s litters have finally gone home (minus one left we are boarding). It tears me up to write this. They have all been such a joy. Of course it has been lots of work, no doubt there. Raising puppies requires your heart and soul, lots of sleepless nights, and work! BUT the joy I feel when handing these puppies over and seeing them with their new family is PRICELESS. We wish you all well and we are always here for our families ♥️ We wish you all the best!

Puppy curriculum is all about helping the puppies grow and develop age appropriately. If we were to have thrown a bunch of toys in their pen like this 4 weeks ago, they might have been fearful and not trusted us humans as being their safe place. But as you build trust and patiently let them physically develop, you see that they become immune to random and silly things and they just learn to enjoy life without fear. 😊

Dayton (AKC Golden Retriever) is surprisingly still looking for his forever home! He is such a handsome boy and huge sweetheart! I’m tempted to just keep him for our program because he’s so wonderful 🥰 but we can’t this time around. Mom and Dad are both fully health tested and have OFAs and Pennhip. We offer a health guarantee and he goes home with his vaccines, fully dewormed, a microchip, and lots more! We put our heart and soul into raising our puppies. Did you know mental stimulation for a puppy is oftentimes more tiring than physical exercise? So if you find your puppy needing to get out those puppy zoomies or just want them to grow and develop in a healthy way, help their brains solve puzzles! It will not only be beneficial for their health, but they will sleep nice and sound afterwards ♥️ #cavalierpuppies
Crate exposure needs to go slowly and consistently. You can’t expect a puppy to stay in a crate the moment you introduce it. It takes positive associations, patience, a willingness to let them out BEFORE they get overwhelmed, and learn their cues. As time goes on and you build up with the positive reinforcements, they learn the crate is a “den” or “safe place.” It’s never a place to dwell or live for long periods of time! It is only for sleeping/resting or to hang out occasionally. Sometimes our dogs just go in to get a break from us silly humans. The door stays open the whole time and they take a little snooze and leave as they please. Just remember…start slow. Be patient. They WILL get there 🥰

We expose our puppies to all sorts of situations and experiences. This is important to do in a safe environment and follow their lead. When we try to desensitize them to certain stimulation we don’t just do whatever we want, when we want. We expose them age appropriately and push them a little harder when they are ready for the next exposure. If they are fearful at all, we monitor and hold back so they feel safe with humans and learn to trust us and then try again later. Our puppies leave knowing they are loved and empowered! This particular exposure activity is to help overhead awareness and desensitize them to stimuli that may cover them in an enclosed space. And they did great!

The big day came with Maligator Kennels! Russ and his amazing team (professional dog trainers with a huge background in canine psychology) came out to evaluate (temparment test) both litters. It’s so cool to see the puppies own personalities but it was even more exciting to see how AMAZING they scored. They ALL scored within ideal ranges and every single one will make a most excellent dog. Way to go little ones! Hard work pays off 👏🏻

What do our puppy pens looks like for exposure time? 🤩 In this video I explain why it’s important to have stimuli in their pens for at least a few hours a day. They do need their down time (to rest and de compress) but we make sure every day there is something in their pen to help stimulate them, teach them new things, challenge them, and desensitize them, age appropriately. Just last week we were under a couple feet of snow! Today it was 75 degrees 🤣 Welcome to the wonderful & unpredictable world of Utah weather. I have lived here almost 20 years and the weather still surprises me every year!We were anxiously waiting until we could take these puppies out! Exposure to the outdoors is very important at a young age. We let them play and play and play while we sanitized a bunch of toys and did lots of cleaning.
