SERENITY TRAIL A FELINE SANCTUARY
Serenity Trail A Feline Sanctuary is a Nonprofit No Kill up & coming sanctuary for community feral & stray cats. in order to get the word out & begin fundraising for the physical facility to be located in Northern Virginia, where homeless cats may be socialized & adopted into FOREVER HOMES & where the unadoptables may live their lives in peace & harmony in a compa

ssionate environment. A Norfolk native, when I was a little girl & anyone ask me what I wanted to do/be when I grew up, my immediate response was always, I’m gonna have a Cat House! I have cared for & socialized ferals & stray cats & their kittens since childhood, adopting many myself over the years, taken them to the vet for check ups, vaccines, spays/neuters and with God’s guidance, found them loving forever homes. I worked in a popular dog, cat & exotics Veterinary Hospital in Va. Beach & in 2010 moved to the Northern Virginia area to be close to my children, where I worked in a small dog & cat Veterinary practice in South Riding, then in Fairfax at the largest 24 hour ER dog, cat & exotics veterinary hospital in the area, but needed to return to Norfolk in 2014 to care for my elderly mother.
7 years later, still here with Mom, I realized my calling, my Mission In Life, was passing me by & it was time to fulfill my childhood dream of operating a “Cat House”, a Feline Sanctuary. My intention is to help feral & stray felines from here in Hampton Roads & once I relocate back, in Northern Virginia, get off the streets & out of kill shelters and on their way to a better life, as well as assist overflowing rescues that I have come to know here in the Hampton Roads area where I grew up & spent my entire life (except for May 2010 - September 2014 in Northern Virginia) & my love of saving felines & dream of a “Cat House” was ingrained in my soul. My name is Carolyn Harris & I am the Founder of Serenity Trail... A Feline Sanctuary. Do what you LOVE & LOVE what you do & never work a day in your life!!

Some people have absolutely NO COMMON SENSE‼️‼️
Recently I have seen people practically dragging dogs on leashes that are lagging behind them and pulling and tugging on dogs on leashes who have laid down...BECAUSE THEY'RE HOT AND TIRED‼️‼️
Have you ever heard of heat exhaustion⁉️ It happens to animals too, not just humans‼️‼️

Use your common sense people‼️
Would YOU drink beach water ⁉️
Would YOU stand on the hot sand while YOUR feet were burning⁉️

Taking your dog to the beach can be a really fun activity - the sight of a pup running and playing is a guaranteed smile on the face to many observers. However, all of that activity can make your pooch thirsty which is why we know that you always bring bottled water with you, right?

Here's why - seawater contains salt (sodium chloride) and excessive ingestion of salt can lead to a high sodium concentration in the blood. This can result in thirst, vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy. In severe cases there is a risk of convulsions and coma. So, the moral of the story - bottled water and maybe a collapsible bowl in your backpack or bag.

It is with a heavy heart and great sadness our sweet Ringo crossed over the Rainbow 🌈 Bridge at 6:42 a.m. this morning.
He was to have had his bladder stones surgery today and we were getting ready to return to Pet Care Veterinary for his 7:30 a.m. admission, but he just couldn't hang on any longer.
Blessings to your beautiful Spirit you sweet boy. You will be missed.

Thank you to everyone who sent prayers to this beautiful boy.

Billy the Kidden Rescue, thank you so very much for your more than generous donation towards Ringo's upcoming surgery today. I have instructed Pet Care Veterinary Hospital to refund the total amount to you. Your kindness and generosity are very much appreciated.

This poor baby has been through so much since Friday. Bay Beach ER overnight, Pet Care Veterinary Saturday where he was unblocked by Dr. Edwards.
This morning readmitting to Pet Care Veterinary for hospitalization and hopefully bladder stones surgery, if Dr. Hulls is able to fit Ringo into his busy surgery schedule. If not, Dr. Edwards will do the survey tomorrow.
His xray even surprised Dr. Edwards. His bladder was loaded with stones.
The first picture is waiting to be readmitted to Pet Care this morning, the other pictures are from late Saturday, early Sunday morning at Serenity Trail A Feline Sanctuary .
Saturday when I picked him up from Pet Care around 3:35, Dr Edwards gave him an injection of an opioid to keep him comfortable through the weekend and to hopefully keep him from getting an infection until he returned this morning...he was out of it the entire weekend and would drink but not eat, and he has gone from being blocked to becoming incontinent. The entire weekend he urinated where he laid and would then lay in it.
Thank you for continuing to keep this sweet boy in your prayers 🙏🙏🙏 for a speedy recovery and return to good health.

Our final bill for the truck rental (212.02) + gas ($45) was $256.02.
The retail price (at Walmart, where we usually purchase our litter, the lowest price we can find) of the kitty litter we received is $20.98 per box.
20.98 x 120 boxes = $2517.60 - $256.02 for truck rental/gas = $2261.58 of FREE TIDY CAT KITTY LITTER‼️‼️

Thank you SO VERY MUCH TIDY CAT‼️‼️ Serenity Trail A Feline Sanctuary is profoundly Thankful and Grateful for your generosity. We so appreciate all you do to help rescues large and small‼️

Thank you so much to our three donors, James Hyssong, Carolyn Groeschen & Ben Harris, whose $140.00 in combined donations towards our truck rental & gas were a tremendous help in offsetting our cost.

Our remaining cost was $116.02.
If you would like to help us offset our cost even further, please visit our website at www.serenitytrailfelines.com and use the donate button at the bottom of the first page. Thank you in advance for your support!!😻😻

The adventures of picking up Kitty Litter‼️

Step 1) Already sitting in 5 mile backup traffic for 30 minutes approaching HRBT, tunnel blocked... What a surprise😂‼️
I left the uhaul place at 7:30... it's now 8:12.
It was almost 45 minutes before traffic started moving and another 10 minutes before I made it to the other side of the tunnel!!

Step 2) After taking 45 minutes to get through the HRBT...I made it to the TIDY CAT plant!!

Step 3) Get checked in and loaded 😻‼️

Step 4) Stop for food because I didn't take time for breakfast.

Step 5) Head back to Serenity Trail A Feline Sanctuary 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛‼️

Step 6) Made it back, hallelujah, there was NO BACKUP at the HRBT!!! It's a MIRACLE‼️
Seems like the trip back was a lot faster (because it was) then the trip there!!

Step 7) Now to unload!!

Step 8) Refill gas before returning truck 🚛. Used about 1/2 tank.
Wouldn't you know the price of gas ⛽ jumped up quite a bit this week 😲‼️💖

Step 9) Return truck 🚛 and receive final bill.
