“There’s something different about the way a good mare connects with her rider. It’s special. Like an unspoken agreement. Once a mare chooses you as her person, it’s like she has an instinct to protect you, to fight for you. It’s almost as if she takes ownership of you.

I believe the good mares have a deep sense of intuition. They can read your mind. They know what you’re thinking even before you do. The good mares I know breathe fire in the face of challenge and then somehow, miraculously, know to quiet themselves when a timid child is plopped on their back for a pony ride.

They are clever, cunning and calculated, which can be your greatest enemy or your saving grace. The good mares I know do not tolerate egotistical riding. They do not tolerate force. They demand tact, finesse and emotional control. But once you have won a mare’s heart, you have won all of her. In exchange for your best—and nothing less—she will give you everything.”

No matter what horse I am on, and no matter what their final discipline is, straight lines are one of the most important things to me. Circle work is great but I like my horses to travel to a certain point framed up, traveling nice under themselves, straight, fluid and loose rein no matter the gait were in. Not wiggling like a worm. I school a handful of different techniques every single time I get on.

is the Jess Vegas two year old filly. Pulled right out of the pasture. She has never anyone or anything on her back. We take a lot of pride in owning quiet good minded babies🖤

Our sweet stud Rooster. He’s been with us since he was just a little guy right off of his mama and is grown into quite the athlete. I’m very excited for the future🖤 🔥

Look at her papers 🖤 Jessie is a two year old filly. She is extremely gentle and good minded. She will make an excellent futurity horse for someone or put her in the roping or ranch riding pen. She is a chocolate dun but is sun faded. She has been turned out all summer and ready to work now. Although she’s been turned out with the other babies, all our horses are still handled regularly. Jessie is ready to start under saddle. I doubt this girl will give anyone much of a hard time on her first rides. We own her mother as well. These are nice quiet, gentle, consistent and honest horses. Mid x,###
Will increase if she gets started.

Lately I’ve been trying to get as many evening rides in as the day light will let me have. I’ll be happy when the heat breaks a bit. My last ride of the night on one of our stud colts, who is turning out to be an astounding althete🖤

I know I don't have to tell anyone how bad it is out there. But, the heat index value (what it feels like) of 115° in Clarksville really jumps out at you. Current dew point of 80°, too.
