Marmoset monkeys are a small species of monkey as to how they got their nickname of finger monkey. Their weight is only 300 to 500 grams and the body is only 5.5 to 7.5 inches not including the tail. The tail length is another 7 to 15 inches. There are 22 different types or species of finger monkeys. 6 are in the genus Callithrix which are the:

common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus)
black-tufted marmoset (Callithrix penicillata)
Wied's marmoset (Callithrix kuhlii)
white-headed marmoset (Callithrix geoffroyi)
buffy-headed marmoset (Callithrix flaviceps)
buffy-tufted marmoset (Callithrix aurita)
One in the genus Callibella which is the Roosmalen's dwarf marmoset (Callibella humilis). Another genus with only 1 species is the genus Cebuella and the common name of this species is the pygmy marmoset (Cebuella pygmaea). The genus with the most species is Mico with 14 types of marmoset:

Rio Acari marmoset (Mico acariensis)
manicore marmoset (Mico manicorensis)
silvery marmoset (Mico argentata)
white marmoset (Mico leucippe)
Emilia's marmoset (Mico emiliae)
black-headed marmoset (Mico nigriceps)
Marca's marmoset (Mico marcai)
black-tailed marmoset (Mico melanura)
Santarem marmoset (Mico humeralifera)
Maués marmoset (Mico mauesi)
gold-and-white marmoset (Mico chrysoleuca)
Hershkovitz's marmoset (Mico intermedia)
Rondon's marmoset (Mico rondoni).
Unique characteristics for finger monkeys is that they have claws and not nails, there is tactile hairs present on their wrists and their wisdom teeth are absent. Also they do not have prehensile tails like other new world monkeys have.

In the wild, finger monkeys have an average lifespan of 12 years but in captivity they can live to 20 years old. Finger monkeys are from 18 months to 2 years old when they are old enough to breed. The female is pregnant for about 144 days before the baby monkey is born. It is common for a mother to have fraternal twins. She can have offspring two times a year. The infant monkey is weaned from its moth
