Lorge Veterinary services offers ambulatory veterinary services to parts of Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee with horses and livestock.

Lorge Veterinary Services and Dr. Lorge, will be unavailable 11/17PM through 11/23. We will be back open Monday, November 24th.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

All current clients with farm animal emergencies will be referred to the closest, emergency hospital or closest colleague.

Should your dog or cat experience a medical emergency during this time, please reach out to your closest veterinary hospital or emergency clinic.

For everything non-emergent, we will return all calls, texts and emails when phone service is available during the week.

I would like to take the moment to highlight a patient I have known since I graduated vet school.

FARO is an amazing dog and has one of the best owners I know. Has had an amazing career as a multiple time national champion. I wish him the best in retirement! Thank you for letting me be a part of your journey!

Equine endocrine disorders such as Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) and Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction (PPID) feature some striking clinical similarities, most notably a predisposition to the development of chronic laminitis. However, the underlying disease biology is quite different in each case.

The graphic below describes some key differences to be aware of between the two diseases.

If you have questions or concerns about your horse in regard to EMS or PPID, contact your veterinarian so that they may further evaluate them.
