☀️🐾 SUMMER SAFETY 🐾☀️

Look out for your fur babies when the sun is out! They may want to be close to you and by your side even when you’re out in the sun but it’s super important to realise they can’t tolerate heat like we can.

Keep your dogs hydrated, shaded, or even inside when the heat is too much for them. ☀️💦⛱️

Walk your dog first thing or in the evening when the sun isn’t out and the pavement/road isn’t hot. Their paws will suffer and so will they.

Most importantly, don’t leave your dogs in the car in this heat, even with windows cracked open, it’s not fair. It sadly only takes minutes in the car for your dog to overheat and in worse cases die. 🚗 ❌

Let’s all look after our dogs this summer and every summer. 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Meet Steve,

Steve is the founder of the family run business ‘SJK Furness’ over 40 years ago and as I’m sure a lot of the local community is aware of, unfortunately is currently on a long journey to recovery after his son Ryan found him at home unwell and in a critical state and required life saving help and treatment. This came to a complete shock to everyone within the business and to all of his close family. Steve suffered a catastrophic brain injury and has undergone 5 major surgeries and is making the smallest of improvements but will require intensive rehabilitation in the hope to get him where he loves to be the most. Home and back to work.

Down to the hard work of Steve throughout the last four decades the company was not going to stop but instead everyone involved within the company have all stepped up to carry on what he has spent his entire career creating. The company has never felt more motivated to carry on and if possible work even harder to maintain all of standards that SJK Furness have always stood for.

This has been an extremely difficult time for us all and have been overwhelmed with the support from all previous clients, friends, general builders and merchants around the local area. It really does show that although the building game is extremely competitive everyone wants the best for the company and for Steve and we will always be grateful for this never fading support received by everyone around.

Everyone misses Steve on site and we are all hoping that one day in the future he will be able to take back the reins and carry on where he left off and how he left being…The best boss, the best friend, the best brother and the best Dad we could all ask for.

This is my new post to confirm that I will be Dog SITTING, and not dog BOARDING. It’s extremely unfortunate that I have been reported to the Wiltshire council for potentially running a Dog Boarding business without a licence. I must confirm which most, if not all of my lovely dog grooming clients, family & friends will agree with me that it is completely against my nature to ever act unlawfully and run a business without all the appropriate measures in place.

As a reputable business, It saddens me that I have to write this post as this has never happened to me before, but so that everyone is completely reassured, when I initially posted about dog sitting, I admit I wasn’t completely aware that a licence was needed, it wasn’t until very shortly after when I really had a look into the requirements as I always would, to find out that a licence is required if I have members of the public’s dogs in my home under my care. This is why (as I’m sure most of you all noticed) I quickly changed my post stating that I’d only be willing to help out my dog grooming clients if ever they needed me for a short period of time. I am a dog lover, just trying to help out my friends and the people that trust me to look after their dogs if ever they needed as a favour. My main job is a dog groomer, that is how I make a living. Dog SITTING was just my free time as a helping hand on the side.

So to clarify - I am more than happy to come to YOUR homes and look after your dogs if you are away, I’m also happy to do drop ins, walk your dog if you’re out for a long period of time during the day, and just be there if you need me to for any other reason. The council kindly confirmed I was right in saying you do NOT need a licence for this and they do not need to look any further into the situation.

I know who it was that took time out of their day to report me and have the council contact me. It’s such a shame another dog business owner felt the need to do this rather than support another dog business. After all, it can be tough at times for small businesses and it’s always in my interest to work together with other businesses and help wherever I can, we’re all after the same result at the end of the day and on that note, from one dog business to another, I wish you all the best with your career and I hope after reading this you are reassured I’m not out here to work unlawfully.

I may have got it wrong at the beginning, but if a bit of time was given before immediately reporting me with wrong assumptions, maybe it could have been realised that I changed my post to state what was meant. And if any miss communications were given, a quick and friendly private message would have cleared that up. I’m not a criminal, just a girl who loves dogs and wants to help people around her 🫶🏼😂

I look forward to looking after all of your lovely doggies, and you’ll know they’re in loving & trusting hands 🙌
