Graces pups are now 5 weeks old! In one week, we will need fosters who can take a pair until they are adopted. They can start going home at 8 weeks!

Yes, you can adopt your foster so you can try fostering and see if a puppy is right for you!

These will be medium to large size pups, mom is about 50 pounds and a Carolina mix, we do not know who the Dad was.

Meet Bear!

Bear is a curious and brave 3-4 month old Shepherd mix who’s always ready to explore the world by your side. His inquisitive nature means he’s eager to learn and discover what’s happening around him. When he’s not on an adventure, Bear is a cuddle bug who adores belly rubs and quality snuggle time.

Playtime is Bear’s favorite part of the day! Whether he’s tumbling around with his brother and big sister (a Husky mix) or rolling through the backyard, he’s always having a blast. He also enjoys spending time with his two small human friends—though sometimes he mistakes their toys for his own!

Bear is making great progress with potty training and already knows how to sit. He thrives on verbal praise and loves being told he’s a good boy. At night, Bear sleeps peacefully in his crate, snuggled up with his brother for comfort.

Bear would make a wonderful addition to a family who can keep up with his playful spirit and help him continue to learn and grow. Could Bear be the perfect fit for your home?

End-of-Year Appeal from Friends of Dogs Rescue

As we reflect on 2024, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible support from our community that has allowed us to save so many lives.

This year, we’ve had:

🐾 282 intakes – dogs rescued from Guadalupe County Animal Control, the streets, and unsafe situations.
🐾 233 adoptions – dogs placed into loving forever homes.
🐾 89 dogs currently in foster care – safe and cared for while waiting for their families.

But with this incredible impact comes great responsibility. December alone brought over $10,000 in vet bills, including one critically ill puppy, two amputations, and several other medical cases, along with routine care for all our dogs. The need is immense, and we can’t do this without you.

We are also stretched thin with only two main volunteers managing intakes, fosters, and adoptions. To continue saving lives, we urgently need help with:

Bolt is up adoption!

I have a big voice and love to play and run outside. I like to cuddle and talk to my humans. I’m doing a good job learning to potty train. My best friend is my brother Bleu and we like to bunk together. I’m a good eater. I like to give puppy kisses.

I am shy and quiet, but have the sweetest eyes. I love cuddles. I always finish my food. I'm learning to potty train and get excited when my humans tell me I’m doing a good job. I love baths and going outside to play. I love tummy rubs.

Hi everyone! Meet Ms. Penelope DaisyJane Blanch!
Penelope is a huge cuddle bug, she loves spending her nights watching tv (she really enjoys The Fast and The Furious) snuggled up next to you.

Ms. P is a classy lady who doesn’t lack manners- she can sit, shake, she is kennel trained and potty trained! Sometimes she gets so excited and wants to jump to give kisses but with a simple “no jump” command she has learned to regulate her excitement and sits instead! Penelope aims to please and learns commands fast.
She is a girls girl through and through, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love the boys. She just needs a little time to warm up to men.

Penelope is currently learning to come when called, stay and how to play with other pups. Due to her rough start to life she is a little unsure about other dogs at first. We are in the process of teaching her confidence around other pups and she now loves to play and play with other dogs.

There is no doubt after one look into her eyes, she will melt your heart, but her personality will surely win you over.

Adopted!

Sasha is up for pre-adoption and will be available to adopt by 12/22 in Texas and January out of state! She weighed 5 pounds at 6 weeks old and we believe she is a Border Terrier/Schnauzer mix who will stay around 30-40 pounds, full grown. Sasha came into our local animal control with her 7 siblings at 4 weeks old and have been in a foster home since then.

She can even write her own bio!

I love cuddles and baths. I like to lay around and sun bathe. I love taking pictures. I love playing with my toys. I love naps and I’m a good eater. I’m doing a great job with learning to potty. I love playing with my older foster sister, Millie.

It is today! Please consider Friends of Dogs Rescue to donate to on this wonderful day of giving!

So far for 2024, FoD has rescued 273 dogs from Friends of Dogs at Guadalupe County Animal Control. We have adopted out 211 GCAC dogs in Texas, Pacific Northwest and to New England to date for 2024.

We also provide the vetting for every dog that we meet coming into Guadalupe County Animal Control which averages 60-80 dogs A MONTH! We also temperament test, walk, vet visits for injured dogs and take pictures and videos of every intake in hopes of saving their lives.

We held 3 spay/neuter clinics for our community, and we have provided free vet care and food to families who were unable to afford it.

Meet Daisy!

Daisy is a beautiful 3-year-old, 45-pound Black Mouth Cur mix with a heart full of love and energy to share. She adores dogs and kids, making her a perfect addition to a lively home!

This sun-loving girl enjoys lounging outside, running around, and car rides—even after her recent surgery, she handled the trip like a champ. Daisy’s playful nature shines brightest with her fur brother, though she sometimes forgets to pace herself when he’s ready for a break. She’s still learning that not every dog appreciates her enthusiastic jumping, but her excitement is all part of her charm.

Daisy is potty trained, knows how to sit, and sleeps soundly through the night in her crate—even if she’d rather keep playing at first! During the day, she’ll sometimes choose to nap there on her own. She’s learning leash manners, but her zest for life makes outdoor adventures very exciting, so she’s working on not pulling so much.

She absolutely loves being petted, though she might get a little jealous if another dog gets attention first. Her response? Big, loving eyes that earn her pets every time. When she met her foster mom’s grandsons, Daisy was all wiggles and kisses, showing how much she adores kids.

Daisy loves toys but sometimes thinks anything on the floor is fair game—she’s learning to tell the difference. If you’re looking for a sweet, spirited, and affectionate companion who thrives in an active family, Daisy is ready to bring sunshine and love to your home!

Sweet Bruno has had a very rough start to life! He’s only 10 months old but came into Aninal Control covered in mange, BB pellets, fever and a broken femur. His amputation and neuter surgery is on Monday and will need a foster for his recovery! Please consider fostering Bruno who will be the next Rags to Riches comeback story as he was knocking on deaths door. He has been treated for mange, no longer has a fever and is on his way to healthy!
