Copper was with me for just over a month this spring to get started. I’ve known him & his family for a few years now and they needed help getting him to just walk under saddle! He was use to the good life as a baby and wasn’t too sure about this whole working thing. 😂
Once he figured out that walking around the ring wasn’t really that hard, he decided that standing at the mounting block wasn’t his cup of tea. Just a few days of patience and he gave up on that idea, too. A few peppermints didn’t hurt either. 😉

This handsome, 5 year old, 14.2hh Mustang is sweet, food motivated, and ready for his next challenge. He has all of the basics of a solid citizen under his belt, as well as three beautiful gaits and a cute jump! He has a great uphill balance in the canter and a natural change that will easily polish up to be automatic. Remy will make the cutest kids jumper with the right guidance, or turn him into your trail/obstacle/endurance extraordinaire. He is a gentleman for the farrier, vet, and dentist; will stand in the trailer all day long; can be pastured alone or with a group; and is happy to just hang out around the barn. His training for the past year has been english-based, but he will go in western tack as well.

Ella’s stadium round this past weekend at Stable View was the best I’ve seen from her, not because it was clear, but because she rode it exactly like we planned when we walked it. After trying to make a transition to get the lead after #6, they got a bit disorganized and didn’t get back on the same page quick enough, making for an awkward jump over #7. When we walked the course, we noted that there was an option for either a shorter or longer approach to #8. Ella remembered that and took the longer route so that she could reorganize, resulting in a beautiful finish to their round.
Learning how to ride in the moment around a course is a skill that takes time for all riders to develop. I’m so proud of Ella for really putting the pieces together this weekend! 😍
