What a BUSY few days we have had ‼️

We were able to pull miniature poodle mom and FIVE babies to safety today, along with heartworm + Pekingese mix, Funky Ferry, now known as Sammy 🐶

A couple days ago we were able to swoop, petrified 11 month old puppy named Stingy, heartworm positive, dachshund mix Linea, and Calaway the kitten 🐈‍⬛

And for our last announcement of the day, drumroll please 🥁…

We were able to avoid dropping off a stray to the DACC that was found in a dumpster🥹🙏🙌 A wonderful foster family stepped up at the 11th hour to help us keep this beautiful girl out of the shelter 🙏Thank you so much!!!

Needless to say, we are DROWNING in vet bills 💸 Please consider donating today so we can get these pups the medical attention they need 🙏

🚨 THE CUTEST LAB MIX AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION 🚨

Our sweet Rafiki is still searching for his FUREVER home 🏠, could it be with you?!?

Meet Rafik 👋

Rafiki came to us when he was found as a stray in Detroit and ended up at at overcrowded shelter. Unfortunately he was found severely underweight and in horrible condition. But don’t worry, those days are behind him, since a wonderful foster family stepped up to take him in!

We estimate Rafiki to be approx. 9.5 months old and he currently weighs 45 lbs. Rafiki is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is currently living with 4 dogs and children, as young as 10 years old, and loves them all.

Rafiki is doing great with potty training and when he can’t hold it has learned to use p*e pads. Rafiki loves chewing on bones and playing with the other dogs and children in his foster home. He also is SUPER food motivated and eager to learn. In the short time with his foster family, they have taught him SIT, STAY, & CIRCLE (spins for treat when you draw a circle above him in the air)

Meet Sweet Pepper!!!

Pepper is a neutered male puppy, that we estimate to be 16 weeks old. He is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Pepper is in search of his furever home, could it be with you?!

Pepper has mastered the balance between exuding playful energy and winding down for cuddle time. Whether he’s fetching a ball, chewing on his favorite Nylabone, or finding the perfect stick for a game of fetch, this smart boy is always ready for fun. He also loves to play ball! When he’s not busy playing, he loves curling up with his foster mom for a nap and is truly an amazing cuddler.

Pepper knows “sit” and is working hard on his manners, learning to “wait” until he is given the ok to eat. He his way to being the perfect gentleman! He’s food and praise motivated, which makes him a quick learner, and he’s been doing fantastic with his potty training!

Pepper is dog, cat, and kid-friendly, but would also thrive as an only pet, making him a great addition to any family.

🙏 Please help us with our sweet, Sheba! 🙏

200 days our senior girl Sheba has been passed up on and not picked. In 195 days she’s only ever had one single meet n greet and while they loved her and she loved them, their resident dog did not approve (no fault of Sheba's).

There’s nothing more heart wrenching than a senior dog sitting and waiting around to be finally picked 💔 Sheba should be enjoying everyday of her golden years in her furever retirement home, but instead she patiently waits in foster, another day passes and another day she’s received no interest at all. Her posts continually have less likes than any other adoptable dog- is it black dog syndrome? Is it because she’s a senior? We don’t know but what we do know is that someone is going to be SO lucky to have her once they finally see her. She has so much personality, sass, and charm and will greet you every single day like it’s the best day of her life. PLEASE SHARE her post to help her find her people!

🚨 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - ADOPT BLACKJACK🚨

The 9lb dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Jack is just the most fun loving and opinionated little boy, at a year old he knows absolutely no commands or tricks, but he is willing to learn and loves to work for snacks.

Jack lives with 4 dogs and 5 cats and his favorite thing is to harass the dogs and play all day. He loves to play tug (he always looses) and stuffed toys are his fave thing to play with and chomp on. He is certainly very puppy-like still, he is nibbly and likes to bite your fingers and is still jumpy, but is happily redirected and you can sub out your fingers for a toy and he is content.

He will need help with the jumping and biting of the ankles, but he's the size of a toad, so most people will be fine. At night he loves to find a little pocket of space next to you and curl up in a tiny ball. He loves his humans and would likely cry if left alone at night. He will go in his crate but he is vocal and will whine if he hears you in the house. He's working very hard on potty training and he's getting there, time and patience is key!

Jack would make the best addition to any family that can provide a fun and loving home. He would LOVE a dog to play with but they would need to be ok with him having some big feelings on the initial meet. He thinks he is a 110lb dog, but in fact he is a bat-eared tiny dog with an un-intimidating bark.

Champ came to us when he was found as a stray and ended up at an overcrowded shelter in Detroit. He was absolutely petrified in the shelter, so his HERO 🦸‍♀️ stepped up to foster him and the rest is history!

We estimate Champ to be between 2-3 years old. He currently weighs between 55-60 lbs. Champ is neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is currently residing with 3 other dogs and 5 cats. He LOVES them all and would love a furry sibling to play to with!

This boy wants nothing more than love and toys...and food. Champ is eager to learn and being food motivated we think this smart boy will master all doggie manners in no time. He enjoys running around with his foster siblings and playing with his toys, but when it is time to relax, he is all about the snuggles and kisses! When his foster family leaves him home alone, they leave him loose in a room and he is completely non destructive.

Champ is looking for a home that will give him ample attention and an outlet for his energy. He is a quirky boy with so much s***k and potential, he just needs his perfect family to give him the chance.

We would love to swoop them up to safety when their stray hold ends next weekend but we need a FOSTER FAMILY to step up for them. Dad is a poodle mix as well, and is already spoken for.

It’s been a BUSY week at PLPR!!!

First, we scooped up Shih Tzu Mix, Lagane, to safety. Sadly Lagane was full of mattes, urine stains, burrs and f***s. She was super uncomfortable 😣 and also heartworm positive ❤️ 🪱So it wasn’t a question that this sweet girl needed us.

Next, we scooped up DACC volunteer FAVORITE, Milbry, now know as Millie. Millie is just the sweetest girl 🥰 As soon as we saw her, we knew she needed us, especially because she is heartworm positive as well ❤️ 🪱

Lastly, we scooped up kitties, Anne Burrell and Copeland. All thanks to their wonderful foster mom, Chelsea, who stepped up to foster them 🏠

We estimate the heartworm treatments for Millie and Lagane to cost us approximately $3,000 💸 So if you are in the position to help us pay off their heartworm treatments (these girls so badly need as they are mircofilaria positive too) PLEASE consider donating TODAY 💸 🙏

Meet Kitty 🐈 👋 Kitty was a looking for a ride out of the city shelter and we just saw how sweet and regal she looked, so we scooped her to safety!

This gorgeous hunk of a girl is approximately 5 years young and looking for a chill home and a family to call her own. Kitty is learning all about the good life in her current foster home, she loves the company of other dogs and cats and enjoys a very simple life.

Kitty loves to hang with her people and chill on the sofa, she is more a coach potato than a marathon runner. She enjoys a leisurely walk, but with her aging bones and arthritis, she's happy just chillin in the sun, stretching her big ol' bones and sniffing the grass.

Kitty is unfortunately heartworm positive and we are looking for a foster 2 adopt family, so Kitty can go through the remainder of her heartworm treatment (PLPR covers all medical and supplies while under our care) in her forever home.

Kitty would thrive in any home, she is just such an easy go-lucky girl. You'd be lucky at add this sweet girl to your family, so apply to adopt her now!

As 2024 comes to an end, we would like to THANK everyone who contributed to helping us and the animals in our care this year🙏 We are so thankful for our donors, supporters, foster families, transporters, volunteers, adopters, and veterinarians who help make this all possible 🙏 We are ecstatic to announce that in 2024, we took in 211 animals and have adopted out 201 as of today🥳 Despite so many ups and downs this year, we are so proud of what we were able to accomplish!!!We can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store for us as we will be hitting our 5th year as a 501c3 non profit animal welfare rescue this summer 🥳 Thanks to everyone who has been there for us 🙏 There are many days we want to give up, but YOU and these animals that need us so badly keep us going! 🚨 JUST RESCUED - MEET MINNIE 🚨

Sweet Minnie came to us this week when she was found as a stray covered in bite wounds 😭A shelter is nowhere for a severely injured 6 week old puppy, so we swooped her up to safety and now we are focused on getting her healthy ❤️‍🩹 Whatever attacked sweet Minnie was sadly trying to kill her 💔 She has puncture wounds covering her entire body, a HUGE abscess on her neck and was unfortunately found in a lot of pain. Since coming into our care, we were able to get her into our vet where they clipped and cleaned her wounds, drained the abscess and have put her on antibiotics and pain medication. We are happy to report Minnie is not crying as much and seems to be feeling better and better every day.
