We are sooo happy to announce that this pretty boy, Titan, is currently pending adoption 🥳❤️. He has been beyond blessed with such an amazing and loving foster family. Now he’s going to be blessed to spend the rest of his forever with such a sweet and loving family! So far, they fit together like puzzle pieces ❤️. This boy has been so lucky to be loved so deeply by his foster family, now he’s going to get the same love from his adoptive family and we are so beyond happy for him. He deserves every bit of this love surrounding him ❤️❤️❤️

Titan didn’t come to us from any severe neglect. He was surrendered due to his previous owner selling his land after a divorce and Titan and his bull buddy had to go. Titan came in a stud, and immediately had that ability cut off 😉. He was also severely overweight, but he didn’t lack love with his previous owner either. Throughout his time with his foster family, he’s been sooo loved. He’s definitely on the boujee side of things, loves his kids, and is a lazy boy. We are so excited to see him excel with his new forever family come 2025 ❤️

Post for local family needing to rehome due to moving

This is “Toby Keith” he’s estimated to be 2 1/2

Toby is not very accustomed to people and just recently started feeling comfortable enough to get himself some treats. He has been with a donkey and they do fine together, the other donkey is already claimed 🥺. Toby is also castrated.

He was dumped and taken in by the family who has him now, so who knows what his life has been like prior.

Toby is located in Tyler TX. If you are interested in giving him a safe home, please comment and I’ll put you in touch with the family caring for him.

These babies need help!!

Someone dumped dogs near us. A male and a female. They seem young and are seriously such sweeties. We just took in another stray last month and have zero room for any more.

If you have room to foster (through one of our local dog rescues) or adopt, please reach out. They have the basics needed to stay alive and they seem to be healthy for the situation they are in. They both are a little reserved, the male more so then the female, but they’re coming around quick!

If you can help please please please reach out. They won’t stay healthy long living on the side of the road.

I know this isn’t equine related, but PLEASE help if you can. Whether it be by fostering one of these sweet babies or taking in another foster from the rescue so they have space for one of these babies, donating food, medical supplies or donating to Spence and White Veterinary Hospital for the 6 in critical condition. (Dr. Spence buys a huge amount of dog and cat food and supplies weekly out of his own pocket btw 🥺 This man is an angel in disguise for the abused and injured animals around us)

This is huge for Smith county and finally putting a stop to this nonsense so many dogs here are put through. If you go to Nicholas Pet Haven’s page you can see some absolutely heartbreaking videos of some of these poor dogs.

Growing and ✨Glowing✨
Sampson is sooo close to reaching his full weight ❤️ He’s definitely our biggest belly to feed and never stops eating. I’m thinking here soon we’re going to start offering him alfalfa again, just to help finish off his weight gain.

He’s really getting comfortable with us and becoming sweeter every day. Today Sam spent a little time walking him out and letting him eat all the grass he wanted and he did so good not dragging her around. He definitely tested her, but didn’t get far. I think because he knows he can drag some people around, he’s going to always be one who will test every new person.

He got some good trotting in today, a nice bath and a heavy coat of fly spray. He says he could’ve definitely done without some trotting…but his low belly says he needs it lol!!

⛈️STORM CLEANUP DAY⛈️

Calling all the volunteers to action, SMHR is asking for anyone with time and able body to help us get all the storm damage around the rescue cleaned up!

WHEN: 10 am Sunday 18th.

Bring some water, gloves and all the good energy. Let’s have some fun and get SMHR back in working order!

Not local but want to help? We’d love to provide the volunteers with a lunch, any donations would be greatly appreciate.

✅EVERYTHING has been sprayed with fly/mosquito repellent or bleach
✅Half of the waters are cleaned
✅Cleaned up the paddocks area, barn and in front of the tack room
✅Refilled the paddocks electrolyte buckets
✅Weed eated and mowed all around the barn (thanks to my dad, I think cause he doesn’t want me getting the mower stuck or breaking it lol)

What we’re down to ⬇️
➡️ Finish the other half of waters
➡️ Fill the boys electrolyte buckets
➡️ Bathe everyone
➡️ Drag the paddocks
➡️ Water the barn runs and paddocks

Today we’ll be spraying everything we can with Permethrin and bleach, it’s going to be a long day.

With VSV and a scare of positive EIA possibly very close to home, we’re going to everything we can to keep flies and mosquitoes away from us. No new horses coming in and those going out will be with fresh coggins.

If you’re local to us you might do the same to stay safe from it! There’s been a few cases popping up around TX and other states. Everyone needs to be very careful with what they pull, haul and house.

Moon is GREEN. She’s been ridden, but not in a long time would definitely need some refreshers. She’s done a lot more lead-lining with kids recently. She’s said to have great ground manners and will follow you inside if you let her! She’s a big lover.
Her owner says she could basically go in any direction with some work, ranch horse, speed events to therapy horse due to how kind she is.

She is not free and has a suitable fee for a beautiful, green 6 yo mare. Message our page if interested and we’ll put you in contact with the owner. They need to meet anyone who is interested in her, nothing will be sight unseen.

Billy Boy (A.K.A Patrick Star)
Billy is a super senior, estimated to be in his 30’s. You wouldn’t tell by looking at him though lol!!
Perfect Home: Billy’s perfect home would look like someone who’s got tons of love to give and doesn’t have any other horses. Billy is absolutely the horse who is all over you when you’re working in the pasture or cleaning his stall. He knows that p**p scoop has better benefits then just cleaning poo lol! He’s a huge lover and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Being that Billy is a stud and his vas deferens are too over grown to castrate without him bleeding out, he most definitely can not be around mares. We’ve tried having him with 2 different geldings and it doesn’t go too bad, but he seriously thinks every horse is a mare.
History: Billy was a sureender/seizure case. The owner was told to surrender or have them seized due to severe starvation. Billy was not near as bad of some of his buddies, but he did have a few broken ribs and was underweight. He was hands down the easiest to get loaded and brought to the rescue. We brought him in August of 2023.
Billy Today: Billy is S•P•E•C•I•A•L. If you leave a single panel standing in his pen (not attached to anything else) he will use it to scratch, drag it around, knock it down and roll on it, etc. He doesn’t know much, but he knows that scratches are absolutely required. He will yell at you if you’re late to feed, then give you some “thank you” nudges after you feed him lol! Billy is really not hard to have around at all, except being a stud I can’t turn him out with any other rescues in (most are mares).

Adoption fee is mid hundreds and he will go through our foster to adopt program, 😉 no flippers welcome here.

Got home just in time for Rose’s nap apparently 😂❤️ These round bales really have so many more uses then just food! Rose had me worried with how still she was laying and then completely warmed my heart trusting me enough to let me sit with her while she was down. She’s probably a little frustrated I still made her get up just to be sure she was fine 🙃🥰
